My check engine lamp had been popping on & off for the last few months, although the car seem to be running fine. Finally got it into a dealer when the lamp was on, and they were able to diagnose that the Mass Air Flow Sensor was fouled slightly with oil, supposedly from my after market K&N air filter, (I find that a little hard to believe, but...)Anyway, for something quick & inexpensive to try, you might want to clean off your air flow sensor and see what that does. You can get a can of sensor cleaner at about any autoparts store for $6 or $7 and it doesn't look that difficult to do.Good Luck... Ive been told its caused by lower octane fuel, however, I have used higher octane fuel and/or Lucas to remedy and still have this problem. The service engine soon light came on last Saturday. The light went off on Wednesday. I borrowed a fellow enthusiats OBD-II code reader the day after it went out and it did not show any codes. Since it came on and even after it went off, there has been a hesitation once in a while upon acceleration in first or second gear. There has also been a few times where I will be cruising at a constant speed and there be a small automatic surge in acceleration. Any thoughts?

I have a 2005, 4.6L, manual tranny. The service engine soon light came on last Saturday. The light went off on Wednesday. We had it into the dealer several times and left it over several nights. They could hear it on several occasions but could not diagnose it. Any hints as to what it might be. Just recently it has gotten worse. Thank you, Ron

We have 2006 Mustang GT and have had a consistent cold start grinding noise immediatly after starting, lasting 1-3 seconds.
