2010 Ford Mustang Center Console and Climate Control29 Oct

2010 Ford Mustang Shifter & Console

So far, Ford has shown us the front seats, the dash, and the shifter knob of the 2010 Mustang–now we get to see just a little more of the interior.  This week’s teaser gives us a full perspective of the center console and the lower accessory controls in the new pony car.  What we have here is a definite move up in class with some elegant chrome trim (of what could be the next IUP package…or could be standard) around the shifter bezel as well as the accessory knobs.  The climate control system appears to have been updated to a push-button setup and also allows for two distinct climate zones for the Mustang’s front occupants.  The traction control button also gets a relocation downward, more adjacent to the shifter.  These changes aren’t watershed by any means, but the true enthusiasts know exactly what is evolving.  The true rendition will solidify all of our past teasings and suppositions in just a few weeks, at the LA Auto Show.

Edelbrock E-Force Supercharger system for 2005-09 Ford Mustangs

Conveniently timed just ahead of SEMA 2008, we stumbled onto another alternative for the 2005 through 2009 Ford Mustang to become a recipient of forced induction. Edelbrock has just announced the release of their rock-solid and may we say quite attractive, E-Force Supercharger system for the 4.6L 3-valve V8. The state-of-the-art E-Force design is built in-house and features an Eaton internal rotor setup–the same found on the new Corvette ZR-1. Gear up, install it, and buckle in, because this setup is reported to result in power figures of 466hp and 439 ft-lbs of torque on a mere 5psi! We think you’ll agree that Edelbrock has a very nice product here–check out all the finer details in their official Press Release.

Steeda Celebrates 20 Years of Mustang Success

This year marked the 20th Anniversary of Steeda Autosports and we were quite impressed with the amount of pomp & circumstance surrounding their celebration.  With a warm reception, full track access over the weekend, and lots of great food and fun, Steed Mustang owners across the entire nation were able to take part in the recognition of a company which proudly services the Ford Mustang aftermarket and has done so for over 20 years.  We now have a special look of the company’s history and legacy in a slick video clip for you.  Take a good look at the strength of the aftermarket following the legendary Ford Mustang and how well Steeda has followed it over the years. 2010 Ford Mustang Hood Shot22 Oct

2010 Ford Mustang hood

Ford has thrown us another basted bone this week with a shot of the 2010 Mustang hood.  The lines and edges hint at the new Mustang having a very recognizable form we have seen before. The 2010 Mustang hood certainly has some distinguished features found in past race-ready Ford Mustangs.  Back in 2000, Ford’s SVT division released the Cobra R, and one of the most prominent features on this snake was its power dome hood.  The 2010 Mustang hood seems to have inherited some of these hot features from the 2000 Cobra R.  The hood, back in 2000, was taller than the normal Cobra hood and had gills that improved heat dissipation. This week’s power dome shot is a very cool teaser image that Ford has baited us with.  Tying in popular traits from the SN95 era and its glory is a very cool move!

2010 Ford Mustang prototype

With all the teasers from Ford and all the spy shots we’ve brought to you in the past, we’re excited to show you what appears to be a 2010 Ford Mustang prototype parked at a shopping mall. Posed for the lens sans camo, this next-gen S197 Mustang brings all the hints of edginess and ebb to fruition in broad daylight. The updated front and rear are completely visible now on this prototype, so it shores up some of the questions everyone has been tossing around about what is happening to which piece. Take a good look at the shots we have in store for you–the LA Auto Show isn’t too far, so we can see just how close the prototype comes to production!

Roush Racing Video Series Near Miss at Watkins Glen15 Oct

Roush number 59 at Barber Motorsports Park

If you’ve ever held a 9&3 in your hands, you have perfect knowledge of what it is like to fear someone ahead or behind you creaming out and taking you with.  Well, this is nothing strange to the Roush #59 Ford Mustang running in the KONI Challenge this year.  One of the most exhilararting happenings took place at Watkins Glen this summer, with a Porsche wiping out on the sidewall.  Thankfully, the skilled Roush pilot was able to avoid some shrapnel and the aftermath of this “sad” and unfortunate racing event.  We road racers fully appreciate the dexterity applied here in the thrilling outcome.  Take a good look and enjoy some excellent firsthand driving footage! 2010 Ford Mustang shifter

This week, Ford shows us yet another segment of the 2010 Mustang interior.  Last week, we saw the new Mustang dash and cluster, and now, we get a bit of a zoomed look of what was blacked out in the prior image.  This 2010 Mustang shifter is definitely the highest class gear changer we have seen in the Mustang straight from the factory line.  Its unique polished metal finish gives it an aura of luxury inside the already posh S197 interior of today.  Also, it could just be the angle of the shot, but we were noticing that the actual shifter itself seems shortened a bit.  If so, this could be the aftermarket influencing the market, given the demand for short-throw shifters by many Mustang fans.  We just have one word of caution on a hot, sunny day: bring a cloth to cover the handle.  Today’s aftermarket shifter knob owners know this story all too well.

It is a state of the art on-board computer system that monitors, displays (via any LCD screen), and data logs everything that the ECU accesses. Project B Mustang

Next month, there will be a somewhat mysterious Mustang concept unveiled at the SEMA show. The folks at Galpin Auto Sports will uncover their “Project B” concept that is based off the current Ford Mustang platform. Not many details are known at this point, but we have heard that the car is powered by the Mustang V8, which is stroked to a 5.0-liter and equipped with twin superchargers. The rims are 24 inches in the rear and 22 inches up front, attempting to cover up the massive 16-inch Wilwood brakes. Rumor has it that this concept will also feature Ford’s second generation SYNC system. We’ll have to wait and see to find out for certain. Until the SEMA show, the renderings and photos will have to keep us satisfied. Take a look! (more…)
