SEMA 2009 – Classic Design Concepts Ford Mustang coupe29 Oct

CDC_2010_Ford_Mustang_coupe

Most of the time, a Ford Mustang fan is inclined to zone in on one particular paradigm: “go” or “show”.  As a result, many modified Mustangs reach a point to where they are so tweaked and/or pampered, they are relegated to weekend warrior cruising or track-only duty.  So where’s the dualism here?  Why can’t a Mustang fan have the cake and eat it too?

This year at SEMA 2009, Classic Design Concepts (CDC) will take the best of both worlds and mold them into one awesomely capable pony car package.  The main premise of this latest CDC project is twofold: create a concept suited for the racing lifestyle enthusiast with simple tools and track day needs contained right inside the car AND keep the car’s performance & suspension upgrades in check to be aggressive, but not overbearing for comfortable everyday driving.

Keep reading to get the list of modifications on this 2010 CDC Mustang coupe and if you’re at SEMA, be sure to stop by the CDC booth to check it out firsthand!

American Muscle pre-painted trim parts

In the event you don’t have the desire to pay a lofty sum to have aftermarket Ford Mustang trim components painted for you by a body shop or you don’t happen to have your very own paint-spraying bay, then you might have stumbled upon the right spot.  AmericanMuscle (AM) just recent opened its paint facility where they meticulously apply Ford OEM hues to any of the aftermarket trim pieces they distribute.  A tedious careful 14-step process of prep, application, and treatment ensures the quality shine and finish anyone would expect from a reputable shop.  To top it off, AM is advising everyone their trim parts will ship the same day as ordered.  Not bad!  Keep reading to get more details in the Press Release.

2010 Ford Mustang unleashed father son story

A faithful following seems to make a legend all the more enticing and solid.  The fans (and freaks) behind the Ford Mustang never cease to amaze us with their stories of adventure, triumph, and awesomeness.  One such story on the heartwarming side, is of Joseph Cram (Hot Rod Joe to his friends) and his father, Ralph Cram.  They had always longed to take their rebuilt 1968 Ford Mustang Coupe out on the open roads of the USA for a grand father-son event to remember.

Then the economy took an unexpected turn.  Joe and his father were forced to part with their beloved ‘68 Mustang and left behind a gaping hole in their hearts.  Now, 16 years after the prior departure, Joe and Ralph were given the chance to take a road trip from Houston to Detroit to take part in the renowned Woodward Dream Cruise, rolling down the roadways in a 2010 Mustang convertible.  Keep reading to check out the Cram’s story, as it’s just one of many epic Mustang chronicles in the series of Ford’s “The 2010 Unleashed” program.  More official details and other stories can be read & seen at the2010mustang.com.

2010 Saleen S281 Ford Mustang

Back in late July, we saw the latest of the fledgling Saleen Performance Vehicles Mustang specimens, the Saleen 435S.  Now, the Saleen Performance crew has teased exhibited the 2010 Saleen S281 Ford Mustang well ahead of the official debut scheduled at the SEMA show this fall in Las Vegas.  There’s nothing absolutely watershed about the car’s styling and panache, but there is one silver lining in the cloud cover overhead; the highly-questionable rear of the 2010 Saleen S281 has been touched up quite nicely with a lengthened tail and diffuser-esque rear valance.  There isn’t a whole lot out for details right now, so check back with us around SEMA time when we expect the full scoop to be in circulation as result of this Ford Mustang specialty car being on exhibition.

One Step Closer to the next Ford Mustang powertrain05 Oct

6 verus 8 showdown

The rumors surrounding the next power plant for the Ford Mustang have been rolling about for what seems like nearly a decade.  Wait, it has been over five years of non-stop enthusiast & fanatic conjecture!  The updated S197 platform got a minor tweak to the 4.6-liter V8 and the 2010 Ford Mustang received a bit more power from the increased tuning and efficiencies laid forth by Ford Motor Company, leaving everyone asking for more.  So…what’s next?  The Coyote?  Boss?  EcoBoost?  If we had to hedge our bets today, we would likely place some good money on the latter of the aforementioned trio.  Back in August, we told you about the renewed focus in advancing the power & efficiency of the current engine collection across the entire fleet, with downsizing displacement and forced induction being the primary method.  This Ford technical evolution spurred along by Alan Mulally and the team has certainly got a few people’s interest piqued, to say the least.  To help boost some of the excitement surrounding the turbo charged line-up, specifically the EcoBoost V6 engine, Ford has launched a new website to further exhibit the true nature of the new turbocharged powertrain species and just what they are capable of.  This comes straight from the vine of Ford’s Communications group, so get in, sit down, and hang on…the ride continues at www.6versus8.com!
