One Step Closer to the next Ford Mustang powertrain05 Oct

6 verus 8 showdown

The rumors surrounding the next power plant for the Ford Mustang have been rolling about for what seems like nearly a decade.  Wait, it has been over five years of non-stop enthusiast & fanatic conjecture!  The updated S197 platform got a minor tweak to the 4.6-liter V8 and the 2010 Ford Mustang received a bit more power from the increased tuning and efficiencies laid forth by Ford Motor Company, leaving everyone asking for more.  So…what’s next?  The Coyote?  Boss?  EcoBoost?  If we had to hedge our bets today, we would likely place some good money on the latter of the aforementioned trio.  Back in August, we told you about the renewed focus in advancing the power & efficiency of the current engine collection across the entire fleet, with downsizing displacement and forced induction being the primary method.  This Ford technical evolution spurred along by Alan Mulally and the team has certainly got a few people’s interest piqued, to say the least.  To help boost some of the excitement surrounding the turbo charged line-up, specifically the EcoBoost V6 engine, Ford has launched a new website to further exhibit the true nature of the new turbocharged powertrain species and just what they are capable of.  This comes straight from the vine of Ford’s Communications group, so get in, sit down, and hang on…the ride continues at www.6versus8.com!
