“Our company’s purchase of certain assets in February entitles us to use the Saleen brand for our superchargers, aftermarket parts and high performance vehicles, and we look forward to continuing the legacy of great Saleen products that fulfill the brand promise of ‘Power in the Hands of a Few.’

(I guess you can purchase the Legacy of a living Automotive icon if you have the money!)

Manny, I can see you are passionate about what makes a Saleen a true Saleen. I know many enthusiasts feel the same as you about the issue. I think what Speedchick was trying to share with you is that the Saleen name is a familiar brand name in the Mustang world, which Steve Saleen sold a few years ago. Since then, he has moved on and created SMS. Yes, Steve Saleen, the man, has a new company that competes with his old company, which forms the basis of your point…what is a true Saleen Mustang.

As for the cars Saleen produces, as you can see and hopefully admit, is that Steve Saleen’s former company can build appealing Mustangs that enhance the Mustang’s appearance and, I’m sure, it’s performance. I don’t think anyone would disagree with you about the talent and creativity of SMS. I hope to see a competitive rivalry between these two companies. The Mustang community would benefit from their efforts, and that is how the “value” of these cars truely will be defined.

Is it “Manny” or Steve Saleen in disguise??? When Steve wanted to sell his “name” it was o.k. then…now he’s threateded by what appears to be a talented group that has, as Mindstorm9 puts it “fixed some of the low points”….Nice job, SPV….I like it!

I think Saleen did a good job of “fixing” some of the low points of the 2010 Mustang exterior design cues. The backend of the car looks much better with the Saleen treatment and the hood feels more appropriate to the car’s styling. The wheels compliment to the overall look of the car as well.

I wonder if this car will sell well now that Steve Saleen has moved on and created SMS? I can see a comparo between a SMS 460 and Saleen S281 Supercharged Mustangs coming in the near future. Talk about showdowns in the making…
