OK, you got us, Hurst.  We thought for sure the aftermarket packages tied to the 2010 Hurst Mustang Pace Car were as close as we’d get to having the real deal.  We stand corrected now.  It turns out that a lucky handful of Ford Mustang fans will have a chance to grab up one of these Hurst special editions, with a limited run of just 50 units being produced for good use.  What’s more is the 550 HP supercharged 2010 Hurst/Austin Hatcher Foundation Mustang Pace Car replicas’ distribution will pay homage to the original, which is set to be auctioned off after its tour of duty sometime next January.

The “Undefeated” Team from Classic Design Concepts (CDC) is set to put their SEMA special to the test in the 2010 Gumball 3000 rally race.  The “Weekend Warrior” Ford Mustang , which we saw enter the stage at SEMA, is no stranger to being a dualistic track and street terror.  “The concept behind the Weekend Warrior, which we unveiled at SEMA in 2009, was to build a street legal Mustang that could also double as a track car,” said George Huisman, president of Classic Design Concepts.

The Weekend Warrior Ford Mustang is well-poised to take on the field, with add-ons including, but not limited to: Ford Racing parts, upgraded rubber on all 4 corners, Baer braking, and Maximum Motorsports suspension components.

Take a good look at the laundry list of goodies CDC has thrown onto the Weekend Warrior Mustang and wish the “Undefeated” Team from CDC good luck in the Gumball 3000 rally!

Hurst and Ford Racing recently teamed up to exhibit their collection of Pace Cars, starting with the 2010 Hurst Ford Mustang Pace Car (pictured above at Miller Motorsports Park) and now, April 25th has held host to the unveiling of the black & gold 2010 Hurst Ford Racing Mustang Challenge Pace Car at Virginia International Raceway (VIR).

The Ford Racing Mustang Challenge will be just the first of this Mustang’s PR duties.  After the conclusion of the race, the collectible Pace Car will take part in the Hot Rod Power Tour at various Larry H. Miller dealerships across the country and will end up at SEMA this year.  After the SEMA show, this Hurst Mustang will then be auctioned off for charitable causes sometime in January 2011.

What’s one of the ultimate blessings you could receive on your Ford Mustang modification achievement?  One note of praise might be to have professional drivers declare and speak of its awesomeness.  That’s just what happened when Jack Roush turned his NASCAR Sprint Cup & Nationwide Series drivers loose with the keys to a fleet of 2010 ROUSH 427R Mustangs.  The scene of the crime?  Charlotte Motor Speedway.

In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past oh say, 15 years, you’d sure to realize the Ford Mustang aftermarket is something that continues to sizzle on far beyond the dreams Carroll Shelby and Lee Iacocca ever imagined back in the 1960s.  The staggering number of late-model Mustang spin-offs is something that could be seen as awesome, inspiring, or even sometimes comical.  It’s quite daunting just how many flavors of the Ford Mustang there are.  What’s more, we’ve done our best to draft up a list for you to digest, observe, and most importantly–help continue to add to it where we’ve left out!

2010 Mustang Rally Car

It’s not uncommon to see a Ford Mustang set for duty as a weekend warrior at the track, being tweaked for road racing, or stalking the tree to make a few 1320 passes.  What we did find unique about the latest 2010 Unleashed video series installation is that somehow, J.B. Niday managed to turn a new 2010 Ford Mustang into a bona fide rally car.  You read it right–a rally car.  Serving as the managing director of Rally America, Niday set up the 2010 Mustang GT with a roll cage, racing seats, a rally computer, off-road tires, and a HID light bar in hopes of winning at the Ojibwe Forest Rally in Minnesota.  So how well did Niday’s 2010 rally Mustang perform?  You’ll have to check out the Press Release and watch the video to find out!

2010 Cobra Jet Ford Mustang

Back in early September, we showed you a video of the 2010 Cobra Jet Ford Mustang making some passes for a test ‘n tune at the Milan Dragway.  During the early hours of the 2009 SEMA show this week in Las Vegas, Ford Racing pulled the coverings off the car and made its debut a kosher occurrence.  A mere 50 units are going to be produced by [the profitable] Ford Motor Company, so the scramble to get a hold of one of these 2010 CJ Mustang specimens will certainly thin out those with slow reaction times.  What’s so great about this car?  It’s a total turnkey racer straight from the Ford Racing catalog; it is equipped with a 5.4-liter V8 & a 3.4-liter Whipple supercharger; it is yet another capstone on the fortress of a legendary Ford Racing past.  Take a closer look at this winner of a drag-car and check out the full story in the Ford Press Release as well.
