Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro go flat out in the flats

The clash of the titans continues to ring onward.  The latest test of muscle and strength has been compiled by the tech-heads over at Popular Mechanics, pitting our famed Ford Mustang against the [evil] Chevrolet Camaro in an all-out, no holds barred, speed test.  The venue: Bonneville Salt Flats.  The challenge: crank it to 11 and see who gets it done properly.

In this scenario, the PM editors pit a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 against the Chevrolet Camaro SS to see just how the top end feels in both rides.  Their only obstacle to reaching the top–electronic limitation, factory set at 155 miles per hour.  No problem there, however.  Some good guys from Lingenfelter were tapped to to reprogram the ECUs in order to let the beasts run wild & to their limits.

So how did each car perform?  Who “won”?  You’d better hop over to the Popular Mechanics article to check out the full story.  We don’t want to spoil the soup…

its sad that popular mechanics is a better car magazine than car & driver and motortrend LOL

even though its a good race, I would have rather seem the 2011 5.0 vs the Camaro SS
