How much did you spend on soda this week? Fast food? Tobacco? We thought as much. What if we told you, the Ford Mustang enthusiast masses, you could all have the chance to make a difference and see a good cause forwarded to benefit all Mustang fanatics the world ’round?
Late in 2010, we told you about a Ford Mustang TV show which would bring about a new series focused upon everything Mustang! The problem here today is getting the funding & backing to make this vision a reality. The fine folks behind the project have already reached out to every major broadcaster in hopes of getting this bird out of the nest, but guess what…it takes coin…and lots of it.
Inside the Press Release is a way each one of you Mustang fans can actually make a real difference in this project. Be sure to give this one a close look, as we think this is going to be a pretty cool deal coming to fruition.
And by the way…yes, we’re in.
As most of you know we have been working on the idea of doing a Ford focused, Mustang specific TV show. We have solicited the following: ABC, CBS, NBC, ESPN, SPEED, VERSUS, Discovery (and all of their stations), HDNet, Fox Sports, Powerblock TV, and several others. Along with this we have also reached out to individuals like Stacey David (Gearz), Adam Carolla (who is a huge car fan and does his own webcast) who also produce. As of today we have no takers. There is a bright side…
To date we have made a 2 minute trailer that has had nearly 14,000 hits!
Tons of comments from Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Americanponybuilders.com, r-amotorsports.com, enthusiasts at shows, who have all cheered loudly for what we are trying to do and said: “WE WANT THIS SHOW!” In the spirit of not giving up on something we all think is a good idea, we have decided to give this 1 more effort.
Here is what we have decided: We are using a website called Kickstarter.com to help us raise some funds. Kickstarter is focused on creative projects and is powered by people making pledges to projects they like and believe in. Kickstarter is a great way for artists, filmmakers, musicians, designers, writers, illustrators, explorers, curators, performers, and others to bring their projects, events, and dreams to life.
The word “project” is just as important as “creative” in defining what works on Kickstarter. A project is something finite with a
clear beginning and end. Someone can be held accountable to the framework of a project — a project was either completed or it wasn’t — and there are definable expectations that everyone can agree to. This is imperative for every Kickstarter project. Kickstarter is all or nothing funding.
Why did we choose this?
1. It is less risk for everyone. If you need $5,000, it’s tough only raising $2,000 and a bunch of people expecting you to complete a $5,000 project. If we don’t meet our funding goal you are out nothing.
2. It allows people to test concepts (or conditionally sell stuff) without risk. If you don’t receive the support you want, you’re not compelled to follow through. This is huge!
3. It motivates. If people want to see a project come to life, they’re going to spread the word and pledge support.
