Remember those spy shots of the 2014 Ford Mustang that floated around the web last week? Yeah, they didn’t really show too much more than we had already expected, but what’s cool about what we’ve scooped up this week, is that the team over at CarBuzz has taken those same images and refactored them in a totally slick “what if” rendering.

Back in early July we told you about a special USAF edition Ford Mustang and all of its supporting details. So the “Gathering of Eagles” auction event happened mere days ago, and the 2014 Mustang GT done-up for a fortunate bidder, was auctioned off with a final price of $398,000. Wow. The cool part about the high price is that it’s for charitable purposes; so the Experimental Aircraft Association’s Young Eagles program benefits as a result.
With the Ford Mustang 50th Anniversary inching its way closer as we creep into August, Ford has started to spark up the interest for the anticipated event with a new video series, aimed at sourcing the vast community of Mustang enthusiasts around the world.
The “Ford Mustang Countdown” campaign is a weekly online series which will feature video clips highlighting moments in the Mustang timeline, starting with the initial launch of the 1962 Ford Mustang 1 concept.
In the clip following, you get to see one such enthusiast, Zach King, put together a short film exhibiting two RC Mustangs in a model city chase scene. Pretty well done, at that, actually! Other clips are going to cover a great deal of Mustang legacy, so be sure to keep your eyes open for future video features.
Ready for another next-gen Ford Mustang rumor? Sure you are! This month’s biggest morsel we could scavenge for was the notion the upcoming Mustang redux will be a 2014 1/2 model, to be produced in limited fashion for commemorating the car’s 50th Anniversary. Sounds familiar, right? That’s because, as so many of us well-know, the original pony car we look at with admiration & awe today was released (technically) as a 1964 1/2 model.
Every summer in Oshkosh, WI the EAA AirVenture event takes place, with the Ford Mustang and many other exhibits of speed on-hand to demonstrate just how awesome American aeronautical engineering truly was…and still is. The latest commemorative Mustang to help mark the occasion is a special 2014 Mustang designed to pay tribute to the Unite States Air Force Thunderbirds division, equipped with plenty of go-fast goodies and a truly unique Ford VIN of 0001 in the 2014 model year.
The 2014 Mustang GT decked out in USAF regalia will be donated for auction at the Gathering of Eagles charity event on August 1st during the AirVenture exhibition…the world’s largest collection of aviation pomp & circumstance.

We’ve all been there at some point…crouched over the QWERTY, with a gaming mouse or at the console with a controller or steering wheel in-hand; swerving, smoking tires, and avoiding pursuit in the virtual racing world. The ‘Need for Speed’ series of games has captured audiences worldwide for nearly 20 years and isn’t about to leave any thrill untouched. Know what’s even cooler? A group of producers has teamed up and roped in the Ford Mustang for an actual movie based upon the video game series. There’s no solid word on the title just yet, but you can safely bank it will somehow tie in the long-standing Need for Speed moniker in order to take advantage of the franchise’s successes.
The Ford Mustang in the movie is reported to be a 900hp variant, powered by the all-aluminum, 5.8-liter, supercharged V8…not too bad at all, considering America’s favorite pony car will be ripping the roadways with a healthy collection of global exotics and supercars, no doubt. As for the timing of when we get to see it all–it’s presently pinned for March of next year, right along with the Mustang 50th Anniversary. How convenient, right?
Cool? Corny? Meh? Regardless of how you react, it’s going to be a cool sight to see, if at the least to say it’s the X-thousandth time you have spied a Ford Mustang in a production silver screen product… Follow the jump for the video.

Steve Saleen and his crew are no strangers at all to the Ford Mustang performance realm, and his team is one that’s not likely to be left out of the action. With the teaser of a future 351 Mustang back in November 2012, we can now hold it up to the light and see a 2014 Mustang, a la S351…well, a prototype, at least. This weekend past, at Knott’s Berry Farm in SoCal, Saleen had the S351 Mustang on display for passers by to check out and pitch their cheers or jeers at it.
So what do you do when you roll out your number 1,000,000 mass-produced model vehicle off the line on its 49th birthday? You keep pressing out without taxpayer dollars, focusing on the amazing legacy built and the 50th anniversary Ford Mustang coming up–that’s what. A mild celebration of quality pony car assembly yesterday at the Flat Rock Assembly plant, marked also the 5th-generation Mustang design back in 2004, and laid host to many smiles and handshakes across the hood. After all, it’s not every year a vehicle manufacturer gets to boast the fact they have been on the same line for nearly fifty years, in the 6-figure unit count.
Number 1,000,000 ended up being a 2014 Mustang GT convertible, lacquered in Ruby Red (pictured), and definitely captured the attention of all in attendance. It marks the fact Ford has sold over 8.5 million Ford Mustang units since its inception. That’s awesome, I don’t care who you are.
