Ford has let a few cats out of the bag
recently with three new NASCAR pace cars being unveiled to pace three
Ford Championship weekend races at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The Ford Edge, the Ford F-150
FX2 Sport, and of course, the Ford Shelby GT500 are all poised to take
the track and set the pace for NASCAR circuit participants. The most
powerful production Ford Mustang to date, the Shelby GT500, will lead the
pack in the Ford 400 racing event.
At 500 horsepower, it's doubtable the GT500 will have any issue leading
the NASCAR Nextel Cup circuit. This supercharged 5.4-liter Ford Mustang
is proven to please with its aggressive, muscular, and classic design
that is only matched by its power and nostalgic feel. Le Mans racing
stripes, the Shelby nomenclature, and the Cobra logo are hard-earned
badges the Mustang wears to the track to prove that it belongs amongst
some of the most powerful cars to see the pavement.
We wanted to select championship level production vehicles to pace the
Ford Championship Weekend, and we picked three of the best, said
Davis, during the announcement. When you talk about vehicles that
combine bold design and the kind of performance needed to lead the
NASCAR field on track, these three vehicles are the place to start.
All three vehicles have been equipped for pace car duties with special decal packages and light bars.
