The Great American Run is set to launch later this month, and you can be sure that it will be one of the most action packed events of the summer.  On July 29th, there will also be another Mustang mixed within the crowd for the rally.  Molly Saleen (Steve Saleen's daughter) will be piloting a hot pink Saleen Ford Mustang in the Cannonball Run re-enactment.  This young lady and her noble steed, the Molly-Pop, are ready to sear the streets with plenty of show and go.

It starts with looks and ends with performance.  The pretty-in-pink “Molly-Pop” Saleen S281-SC Ford Mustang packs quite the punch: just over 500hp coupled with 475 lb-ft of torque—plenty to power the sled through what’s sure to be plenty of full-throttle roadway excitement during the event.  The motorcade rally parades across the entire United States landscape, from the east coast to Los Angeles, and features several detours away from the main path in order to test both driver and car in several mystery challenges.  It’s certain that these events (as if a 6 day cross-country rally weren’t enough) will fully test and tax the driver as well as the machine.

The Molly-Pop is like a sour candy.  It looks sweet and inviting on the outside, but once you get mixed up with it, you’re sorry you ever did.

The Molly-Pop Saleen Ford Mustang will certainly make marks—both on the pavement and in people’s memories.  It’s dazzling good looks and vibrant color are very hard to overlook.  Saleen & Co. plan to have some other Mustangs in the event as well.  Twenty-five Saleen S281 Extreme Mustangs will be participating, donning identical black-on-black paint and graphics packages.  The only “color” these cars exhibit will be their gilded production numbers.

It’s been a fast moving summer thus far here in 2007, so be sure to keep an eye out for these high-powered Ford Mustangs when they grace the countryside with their presence.  Rookies, veterans, and even some retired racers will be taking part in this event.  Molly’s not afraid, nor intimidated by the amount of experience or caliber of other cars in the race.  She has the comfort of knowing that the Molly-Pop won’t let her down and that her name speaks of a renowned racing legacy.

I have been involved with the family business my whole life. I’ve also attended a number of racing schools along the west coast and driven everything from karts to high performance street cars.
