StangNet.com member rygenstormlocke and his trusty steed, a 4.0 liter equipped S197 Ford Mustang, have tons to smile about.  First, it was getting into the 12s in the 1320ft sprint.  Next, they saw 11s.  Fast-forward to the present and we find this wondrous car and driver combo running 10s in the quarter mile!

Below, find the complete background (authored by rygenstormlocke), kudos, and some great shots taken of Stella posing and performing in various settings.  This 4.0-powered S197 Ford Mustang already has a decent following and a great story to tell others who think that a sixer is just a sixer.  Besides, what are those other two cylinders for?

Background

I fell in love with this car for the usual reasons, 67 tribute styling outside, 69 tribute styling inside, and the car in both V6 and V8 flavors was very impressive. I test drove both, but at the time, the V8 was not in the cards with having some financial family obligations. Shortly there after, the situation changed, and I had the cash to mod the living snot out of this car. So, question was..trade in for a V8 or go all out on the 6.

I had good teachers, and after seeing the success of others with the 6, I decided the road less traveled-- a usual for me.  Excessive in Manassas, VA built the first version of my car creating a 13 second V6.

Chris and Larry did a great job on countless dyno sessions, 4 different exhaust setups, two different gear installs, a tlock, Zex and Zex racers kit, PHP pulley, Steeda gear and PH LCA's. It was a solid mid 13 second car and I thank them a lot for their efforts.

Then I called Mike@Powerhouse up in Erie, PA and all hell broke loose. I lucked out and got the first customer Turbo, changed out the Steeda gear for all PH CHE suspension. Kmember brace, DR's, drive shaft, gauges. I make sure they approve anything performance wise to Stella. The guys at this shop are great!!! They put up with my lame newb questions and taught me how to launch the car at the track, and even taught me how to do a burnout (its my first track season)!!! They met up with me at FFW events and helped make Stella the 10 second monster she is today! And I'm sure PH will have their hand in many stangs in the months to come to deliver some insane rides.

The team at Powerhouse made the car capable of what it is today.   Mike Bowen of Powerhouse did the tuning and designed the components on the car to make it a V6 asphalt ripping machine.  This includes a Powerhouse Pipeline Turbo kit, Powerhouse Built 4.0 block, with Powerhouse Heads and Turbo cams.  Along with Powerhouse/CHE designed suspension components, all of which have over a years worth of R&D with 2 seasons of track proven results.  This was all accomplished on pump gas, full street car weight on street rims.  Car did have MT ET street drag radials on the rear.  Only the spare tire and jack were removed from the car on its 10 second pass running the same tune as it does on the street. (i.e. we were not leaning on this car).  On top of that, the car is a daily driver that still gets 25mpg.   Also have to thank Chris and Dave at PH for all the time they put into the torquing on the car, and the drag race advice they gave me.

In addition, a tremendous thanks to Mustang owners that have played a role in making this happen, both at the track and on the forums.   It was through collaboration with them that this was possible in combination with the efforts from PH.  Many of which paved the road for me to follow on the build up of this car.  And to all the mustang related forums for the wealth of knowledge they provide.

And to my family for supporting me on the project and putting up with my rants on getting the car to better ETs on a daily basis.

If it were not for the support I have received from these groups, none of this would have been possible.
