After the dust has settled, we recently received detail on another Ford Mustang specimen at the 2006 Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA) show held in Las Vegas. Niche Performance Industries of West Bloomfield, MI debuted a one-of-a-kind Mustang GT, the 7th SEMA produced vehicle for this year's primary sponsor GT Tires. The Niche Performance Industries 2006 Ford Mustang GT was optimized with the latest in exclusive performance upgrades, soon to be available for street use.
"Niche Performance Industries offers a full line of performance parts
for the latest incarnation of the Mustang," said owner David Simpson.
"This year, we were proud to display those parts at SEMA and we were
able to stand out amidst the competition. From aerodynamically-enhanced
body panels to a turbo kit, the screaming yellow Mustang has an
aggressive look and backs it up with serious power. If you liked what
you saw at SEMA, just wait until you try this out."
The Mustang sports a Niche Performance Industries' wide-body Shelby
GT500-style body kit for an aggressive stance and some extra room to
fit 19" X 8" chrome Zeneti wheels shod with HPX 245.35.19 GT tires all
around. (Niche Performance Industries would like to give a special
thanks to BBS wheels, whose RS-GT wheels were planned to be used but
had to be replaced last minute due to tire width changes). A Cobra R 2000 functional heat-extractor hood, also by Niche
Performance Industries, rounds out the body kit with true heat
extraction functionality allowing for significantly lower temperatures
on the street or track. This particular car seen at SEMA was prepped
and painted by Extreme Customs and TommyZ Designs, both of Sterling
Heights, Mich. Additional graphics were done by Fabulous Graphics of
Pahrump, NV.
The car looks fast, but the term "all show and no go" doesnt apply here.
Thanks to Niche Performance Industries' single turbo kit incorporating
a Turbonetics turbocharger, TurboSmart silicone tubing, blow-off valve
and boost controller, horsepower figures easily reach 460 bhp. A
Diablosprt Predator tuning system with dual MSD Ignition DIS-4 advanced
ignition systems keeps that power in line, while Bassani's X-pipe and
cat-back system much less restrictive than the stock exhaust gives
the car a menacing rumble at idle to an outright roar at full throttle.
With any power increase, brake and suspension upgrades are always
advisable and Niche Performance Industries went with a Baer Six-piston
6S big-brake replacement kit with 15" rotors and 14" rear EradiSpeed
replacement rotors. H&R Springs' modified front and rear coil-over
kit keeps the car stable at the high speeds it reaches, but only on the
race track, of course.
While designed with the track in mind, Niche Performance Industries has
made this car suitable for everyday use and even upgraded interior
components. A full Katzkin leather seat replacement kit with matching
interior and exterior colors is a striking upgrade from stock.
