If you haven’t caught it yet on social media outlets, we’re here to share some sad news in the Ford Mustang world, everyone.  As the headline states, we’ve lost Carroll Shelby from this land and he’s no doubt headed to the 1320′ strip in the clouds for the hereafter.  Shelby passed away at age 89 yesterday, at Baylor Hospital in Dallas.  As of this point, we know he was not doing well health-wise, but the official terminal cause has not been released.

The automotive magnate of all things Mustang, and other Detroit muscle, will be sorely missed as one of the legends…one of the greats…one who shaped the automotive industry AND aftermarket then, now, and the future.

Hats off from StangNet, Carroll Shelby.  Your presence will be sorely missed by many.

We have told you time and again to keep your ears & eyes open for upcoming news related to Ford Mustang (and other historical Fords) official documentation (re)produced by Marti Auto Works.  Since we told you about their offerings last summer as well as last fall, the Marti team has now expanded their documentation (fact books, literature, stickers, and the sort) to not just the Ford Mustang, but the Mercury Cougar, Ford Fairlane/Torino, and California Special.

So what’s the catch, you might ask?  Not much–just a lot of the standard stuff you might expect.  Age 18, legal resident of the USA, and you can’t be associated with Falken or Ford…that’s it!  One entry per person, per account, blah blah…and, it ends October 15th, 2012.

All throughout the build-up of our latest Ford Mustang project car, Built to Cruise, we hit certain challenges and bumps in the road that required a healthy portion of blood, sweat, and tears…and ultimately, ground-breaking ingenuity.  One of the key highlights people really liked and latched during the build-up, was the StangNet-designed pedal relocation bracket for the 2011 Coyote 5.0-liter V8 swap into any late-model Fox platform Mustang.  This Coyote 5.0-liter pedal relocation bracket was spec’d out via our own CAD schemes, passed along to prototype stage, and is now being produced by one of our long-term suspension suppliers, J&M Products.  This pedal bracket can be used in any Ford Mustang from 1979 up through 2004, in addition to any other application with a vertical firewall.

What’s that saying about a picture’s worth a 1,000 words?  OK, well, how about one that is worth 1,000 horsepower, then?  The next rendition of Shelby’s Ford Mustang massage found in the 2012 Ford Shelby 1000–a Shelby GT500, amped & tweaked out with some healthy modifications.  How–you might ask?  Start by taking the current GT500 and completely ripping it to shreds down to the connecting rods to the brake pads.  Ford’s 5.4-liter power plant, adorned with a boasting supercharger and fantastic tune pretty much makes this Shelby one of the most venomous serpents that’s hit the streets.

So, is this one the best?  Is this the ceiling we have been waiting to see break?  A 1000hp Mustang from a mainstream aftermarket producer?  While the PR photo above might not portray the entire truth, we can all agree–this one is going to storm the pavement and make some serious tracks in the ever-growing Ford Mustang stampede.
