Earlier this summer, we showed you one of the sexiest aftermarket late-model Ford Mustangs presented to date: the 2009 1/2 Lee Iacocca 45th Anniversary Edition Ford Mustang.  The gallery and Press Release material we showed you before just didn’t seem to do the trick for some folks.  They wanted more.  Video.  Well, we stumbled on the solution to that problem.  Iacocca and company have ponied up to produce a 45th anniversary Mustang music video set in scenic SoCal with Old Blue Eyes (Frank Sinatra) supplying the lyrical notes.  The video of the Iacocca Anniversary Edition Mustang also includes soem spirited driving, hand brake usage, and a few females giving the car a double-take.  Enjoy!

StangNet.com custom 2010 Ford Mustang

Just days ago, Ford launched a slick little customization tool for the 2010 Mustang and so far, we’ve deemed a great time-killer site!  With a plethora of choices in hoods, louvers, scoops, spoilers, grilles, wheels, stripes, and other exterior applique, the potential customized Mustang outcomes are quite numerous.  What we also found interesting was a key aftermarket player is already a part of this initial phase of the customization tool: ROUSH Performance has an array of their body parts available for Mustang fans to virtually slap onto their dream car.  We gave the site a spin and came up with one of our very own.    If you’re feeling click happy,  head over to Ford and check out the StangNet 2010 Ford Mustang customization gallery and create your own customized pony car.

SMS 2010 Mustang 460

Mere days ago, Steve Saleen and his new(er) organization, SMS Supercars, took the wraps off the 2010 SMS 460 Ford Mustang at the “Mustangs Northwest Roundup” in Seattle, WA.  The latest modified Mustang from Steve’s dreams will be the only one officially authorized to bear the Steve Saleen nameplate as a tribute to the dedication, history, and success he has cultured for over 30 years.  Steve states the SMS 460 Mustang is “…everything I stand for.  It reflects my unrivaled tenure in the Mustang business…”.  Well, Mr. Saleen, if SMS is exactly what you say and the SMS 460 delivers what’s promised, color us excited.  We’ll be waiting to see more of this slick pony car later this year when the launch happens.  What’s more interesting is the SMS460 will come in two trims: the base and the “X”.  The SMS 460 is equipped with a 4.6 liter V8 producing 470 hp and 427 ft-lb of torque, while its bigger brother blasts out (with the help of an upgraded internal assembly and some head work) 655 hp and 600 ft-lb of torque from a 5.0 liter block.  Over 650 hp?  The story gets better and better…  Both SMS 460 flavors get their insane power increases by utilizing the new SMS 296 Supercharger to provide a healthy breath of forced induction.

There’s lots more to these cars, so keep reading for more details in the official Press Release.

Ford Unwraps AV-X10 “Dearborn Doll” for EAA Auction21 Jul

Filed Under: 2010 Mustang, Events, Ford

2010_Mustang_AV-X10_intro

After seeing just how successful the last Experimental Aircraft Association  auction of the Ford Mustang AV8R was, the powers-that-be decided it best to bring about another pony car spin-off to the block for this year’s gathering. Oshkosh is the scene for the auction of the 2010 Mustang AV-X10 which is treated to a star-and-bar glass roof, GT500 wheels, spoiler, and lower rear fascia, as well as some World War II inspired lacquer. With orange trim on the nose and tail, a snow white AV-X10 tail stripe, and an official “Dearborn Doll” fuselage pinup, the AV-X10 is in no doubt a great continuation of respect and honor to the US Armed Forces, just as the Roush P-51B was. Aside from the decor and paint, the AV-X10 is also packed with plenty of punch to compliment its patriotic appearance. The based 4.6-liter V8 has been nudged upward by the Ford Racing Performance Parts 550 horsepower supercharger kit, a tuned FR500S exhaust setup, and is equipped with the FRPP Handling Pack. On the inside, a few nice touches help the pilot keep the pony on the road [course]. A short-throw shifter, an aircraft-themed instrument cluster, seats done up in bomber-jacket leather, and aluminum dash trim all give this 2010 Mustang AV-X10 the official USAF feel from times past.  So how do we bring this glory of the past to the present? Couple up this nostalgic glory and decor with a push-start button from today and the cash you’ve been saving since the past.
