2010 Saleen S281 Ford Mustang exposed10 Oct

2010 Saleen S281 Ford Mustang

Back in late July, we saw the latest of the fledgling Saleen Performance Vehicles Mustang specimens, the Saleen 435S.  Now, the Saleen Performance crew has teased exhibited the 2010 Saleen S281 Ford Mustang well ahead of the official debut scheduled at the SEMA show this fall in Las Vegas.  There’s nothing absolutely watershed about the car’s styling and panache, but there is one silver lining in the cloud cover overhead; the highly-questionable rear of the 2010 Saleen S281 has been touched up quite nicely with a lengthened tail and diffuser-esque rear valance.  There isn’t a whole lot out for details right now, so check back with us around SEMA time when we expect the full scoop to be in circulation as result of this Ford Mustang specialty car being on exhibition.

One Step Closer to the next Ford Mustang powertrain05 Oct

6 verus 8 showdown

The rumors surrounding the next power plant for the Ford Mustang have been rolling about for what seems like nearly a decade.  Wait, it has been over five years of non-stop enthusiast & fanatic conjecture!  The updated S197 platform got a minor tweak to the 4.6-liter V8 and the 2010 Ford Mustang received a bit more power from the increased tuning and efficiencies laid forth by Ford Motor Company, leaving everyone asking for more.  So…what’s next?  The Coyote?  Boss?  EcoBoost?  If we had to hedge our bets today, we would likely place some good money on the latter of the aforementioned trio.  Back in August, we told you about the renewed focus in advancing the power & efficiency of the current engine collection across the entire fleet, with downsizing displacement and forced induction being the primary method.  This Ford technical evolution spurred along by Alan Mulally and the team has certainly got a few people’s interest piqued, to say the least.  To help boost some of the excitement surrounding the turbo charged line-up, specifically the EcoBoost V6 engine, Ford has launched a new website to further exhibit the true nature of the new turbocharged powertrain species and just what they are capable of.  This comes straight from the vine of Ford’s Communications group, so get in, sit down, and hang on…the ride continues at www.6versus8.com!

ROUSH 540RH Ford Mustang

There’s no question that many great things come in pairs.  Roush Performance isn’t about to let this old adage dry up either.  The official announcement of two Ford Mustang variants, one of which is entirely new, is going to give the previously exhibited 2010 Roush 427R some new stable mates.  The 2010 Roush Stage 3 and the new nameplate, the Roush 540RH “Hammer”, have entered the aftermarket scene with poise, passion, and most importantly, performance.  These new Roush Mustangs pump out 540 horsepower and 510 lb.-ft. of torque–plenty to go around and enough to bring a grin to any grump’s face.  The power is bolstered by a second-generation R2300 supercharger and is laid to the pavement by superior-performing Cooper RS3 tires.  The Roush Stage 3 and the Roush 540RH are a fine pair to draw two, indeed, so keep reading to get all the details in the Press Release from Roush.

American Muscle now offers Nitrogen filled tires17 Sep

American Muscle - Nitrogen filled tires

Does your Ford Mustang have Nitrogen-filled tires rolling rapidly on the road, track, or strip?  Likely not, but if your Mustang (or another automobile) has the “bigger” gas in its tires, you’re well aware of the advantages Nitrogen has over the atmospheric alternative.  Long-term pressurization, less oxidation & tread wear, reduced risk of blowout from overheating are just a few of the benefits of utilizing Nitrogen for tire inflation.  The team over at American Muscle recently jumped onto the idea of providing Nitrogen-filled tires for Mustang fans shopping for wheels and tires and so far, the concept has been well received.  There’s a reason why fleet vehicles, off-road motorsports, NASCAR, Formula 1, and many others have utilized Nitrogen for years: it’s a sensible update that saves money spent on replacing tires while increasing overall performance.  Take a peek at the Press Release for more information on this offering from American Muscle.

2010 Ford Mustang Cobra Jet testing

Mere months ago, we were excited at the fact Ford would let the Cobra Jet Mustang roll on into 2010 with the new model’s release.  Now, we are able to see some testing firsthand via some slick video footage of the 2010 Cobra Jet at a test-n-tune trial.  The famous Milan Dragway in Michigan was the host site for the drag session and from what we can tell, the weather was absolutely perfect.  A new supercharger (a la Whipple), packing a 3.4-liter punch, is set atop the 5.4-liter V8 power plant in order to bolster up the pony car’s pulling ability beyond that of its predecessor.  Also, aside from the Ford photos and this video, we haven’t seen a real good close-up of the car to give it a fan’s eye…perhaps we’ll get the chance to do so at the official debut of the 2010 Cobra Jet Mustang at SEMA this November.  Until that happens, we’ll have to be satisfied with this video of the 2010 Cobra Jet roaring down the quarter-mile path.

Consumer Reports Rates Ford Mustang above Camaro, Challenger02 Sep

2010 Ford Mustang

By now, we’ve all seen the reports on the recent three-month streak for 2010 Ford Mustang sales and how they stack up to the new Chevrolet Camaro…big whoop.  After the novelty wears off, the market will likely wise up once again, as they’ll realize just how high-quality a product the Ford Mustang really is.  Despite the recent disparate sales figures, the revamped 2010 Mustang has taken out the competition yet again the modern-day pony car wars.  Consumer Reports has rated the new Ford Mustang GT as “Very Good” with a score of 78 points, while the Chevrolet Camaro SS achieved a score of “Very Good”, but only managed to rack up 71 points.  The Dodge Challenger R/T skidded by with a “Good” rating and a mere 53 points overall.  Now, we all know that numbers and ratings are one thing, but seriously, get out there and drive a new 2010 Mustang, a Camaro SS, and a Challenger and see for yourself: the new Mustang is refined, yet powerful.  It’s elegant, yet robust, and can even be considered rude when woken up.

Keep reading to get the Full Monty in the Press Release featuring the Consumer Reports review.

Ford Motor Company from a personal perspective18 Aug

Ford factory

It’s not every day we get “good” news.  It’s not every day we see large corporations truly care about those they serve.  It’s far easier for an automotive junkie to remain skeptical in times of new enthusiast cars like the 2010 Ford Mustang & and the 2010 Taurus SHO entering the scene when the skies are black with doom and gloom.  Then again, if we step back with a fresh perspective and really approach something with the hope of learning, we might just see there are some people out there sincerely trying (and succeeding) to make a difference.

We stumbled onto a personal reflection about Ford Motor Company and how they were perceived…and how they are perceived now.  Take a look and read for yourself.
