We'll be the first to admit, the list
of special edition Ford Mustangs is large and ever-growing. In
contrast, the list of race car drivers, builders, and owners is
arguably shorter. If one were to cross-reference the lists, only a
few select individuals would make the cut. Though the obvious names
like Carroll Shelby and Steve Saleen would make the top, the name Dan
Gurney would no doubt share the headline. Enter the Dan Gurney
Edition Ford Mustang. This red, white, and blue clad Mustang will
feature Saleen's flagship 464 horsepower supercharged 281 cubic inch
engine, racecraft suspension and custom bodywork to match Gurney's
1969 Trans Am racecar. |

The 2009 Ford Mustang is
back in the battle
well, another battle aside from the looming pony car
war. This time, the Warriors in Pink
package for the S197 Ford Mustang is going to do double damage. The last time we saw the Pink Ford Mustang, Ford
shelled out $250 to the Susan G. Komen Race for the Curenow, theyve upped the
ante to $500 for each Warriors in Pink Mustang sold. |

This simple showroom image is all we have to go on, but if Saleen &
Co get their way, they'll soon have a complete aftermarket replacement for the
S197 Ford Mustang and its obscured stock roof. This fully-functional
power glass roof seen at the New York International Auto Show was a
result of Saleen's partnership with Mustang tweaker ASC. It's pretty
evident in the photo that no detail was spared and cast aside, as the
roof slides back and pulls over the rear window. |

Steve Saleen just recently announced that he and an elite few have formed a new niche performance organization dubbed "SMS Limited, Lifestyle
Performance Automobiles; a capstone nameplate in the Saleen enterprise. With a vast racing and performance history behind him, Saleen is no stranger to the business, especially the Ford Mustang. He founded Saleen Autosports in 1983, Saleen Productions in 1993, Saleen
Speedlab in 1997, Saleen Performance in 1999, Saleen, Inc. in 2001 and
now SMS Limited in 2008. Quite the laundry list of success! During the time he spent with his numerous quality brands, he took on many different roles, from product design & development to the sales room floor. With all this behind him, Steve now has his sights with SMS focused on the elite side of the American Muscle cars (Ford Mustang, Dodge Challenger, Chevrolet Camaro) as well as Global Supercar markets. |

American Muscle has its sights set on supporting what could be the latest
car to break the current land speed record of 187mph. This record stands for a production
supercharged vehicle running with stock internals over a standing
mile. Robert Self, age 73, will attempt
to break the current record on April 5th & 6th (2008)
at the East Coast Timing Association (ECTA) in Maxton, North Carolina. On the 1 mile by 30ft abandoned track, he
hopes to hit a top speed of 200 to 210 mile per hour, yet still keeping a safe
