The rumor mill seems to have picked up a little wind to keep
churning intel regarding the next Ford Mustang and its potential
powerplant. Facing contenders, the
Chevrolet Camaro and the Dodge Challenger, Ford has to do something progressive
to keep the fire burning inside every Mustang fan. Stuff.co.nz recently conducted an interview
with Bill Osborne, President of Ford
Australia,
and sniffed out some details regarding Fords initiatives for putting the 5.0L
V8 (from the Aussie Ford Falcon) into the next S197 Ford Mustang.
Nothing solid has come from this interview from the
Motor
City, but with Fords promises of
bringing more rear-wheel drive tech from the land down-under to the states, we
have to believe this could be a promising endeavor. After all, what better way to attract one of
the strongest Ford Mustang followings, the 5.0 Fox Mustang crowd, toward the
newest generation of Ford Mustang? This
might just be the golden ticket, straight from the chocolate factory.
If the 5-oh reaches the 2010 Ford Mustang, there are many choices Ford will have to make. Will they drop the
motor straight in from the Falcon? Will they utilize a cammer concept
or perhaps
something from the Saleen Parnelli Jones Limited Edition Mustang? Best yet, will the 5.0 reach every GT or will
it be limited to a new Mach 1 or even
.gasp
.a new-generation Boss?
No matter what happens, this is some of the most promising
news weve heard about the newest Mustangs coming. Speculation abounds, and its fun no doubt,
but it is good to hear something from an actual Ford official. Now, we just have to get in linethe hurry
up and wait game has begun. We heard
youits your move, Ford. |
