If you haven’t taken a Ford Mustang with seriously respectable power to the track, then you are definitely missing out.  What’s more, if you have, you know what a feat it is to get just that “perfect launch”…because it means everything in the ET.  For the 2013 Shelby GT500, however, life just got a little easier at the track.

Ford has equipped the 2013 GT500 with a brand new launch control make sure every launch is fluid & efficient, every single time.  A recombinant recipe of traction control and engine tuning ensure that the suspension, tires, and weight-shift are balanced when the powertrain is producing substantial power, in order to achieve “maximum thrust” (as SVT engineers put it).

While launch control might not seem like anything all that novel or special in the autosports realm, as-is applied to the 2013 GT500, the more promising thought to hold is that we could see this feature as an option, or perhaps even standard when the 2015 Mustang makes its presence known on the 50th Anniversary of the Ford Mustang.  Now that is something to get excited about.  For now, check out more details in the official Press Release from Ford Motor Company.

If you haven’t caught it yet on social media outlets, we’re here to share some sad news in the Ford Mustang world, everyone.  As the headline states, we’ve lost Carroll Shelby from this land and he’s no doubt headed to the 1320′ strip in the clouds for the hereafter.  Shelby passed away at age 89 yesterday, at Baylor Hospital in Dallas.  As of this point, we know he was not doing well health-wise, but the official terminal cause has not been released.

The automotive magnate of all things Mustang, and other Detroit muscle, will be sorely missed as one of the legends…one of the greats…one who shaped the automotive industry AND aftermarket then, now, and the future.

Hats off from StangNet, Carroll Shelby.  Your presence will be sorely missed by many.

It’s no surprise the Ford Mustang and its many variants continue to make global headlines & history, time and again.  So what’s the latest & greatest???  The 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 is now officially the world’s most powerful production V8.  Wait, what?  Yeah, you read that right.  The 2013 GT500′s supercharged 5.8-liter V8 produces an SAE certified rating of 662 horsepower and 631 lb-ft of tail-twisting torque.  That’s freaking awesome!

What’s more, the 2013 Shelby GT500 belts out the additional 112hp vs the 2012 Shelby GT500 while at the same time, increasing fuel economy by 1 mpg in the city and on the highway…at a rate that’s 5mpg better than the Government Motors Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.

As if Ford hasn’t nudged the clocks forward enough across the Ford Mustang timeline, they are still pushing the envelope this week with the unveiling of the 2013 Mustang official site. So, just what does this mean? It means that we’re still in the first quarter of 2012 and Ford is apparently overly-excited to creep closer and closer toward the 50th Anniversary of its poster child car, the Ford Mustang.

What happens when Ford Mustang sales are nearly 100% year-over-year?  People take notice, that’s what.  At February close, the 2012 Mustang was one of the most sought after vehicles, concluding the fact that Ford’s marketing campaign has reached a sweet apex.  Between rebates, sexy ad spots, and the climactic build-up to the 50th Anniversary of the Ford Mustang, the pony car is “set to jet” atop Camaro and Challenger sales metrics.

On the fringes of the official Ford Mustang customizer web app release, Ford has also debuted its latest installment in the 2013 Ford Mustang marketing campaign to keep everyone pumped-up.  The 2013 Mustang is going to capitalize upon what has made the Ford Mustang ever-so-popular since its inception back in the mid-60s; its customizability.

The video spot we have inside for you is set to release during the Daytona 500 this weekend (although, it should have been debuted during the Super Bowl, we think), so there are plenty of chances for Ford fans to get wind of what’s coming next.  What is unique in this advertisement is the fact Ford has opted to show how well the 2013 Mustang connects to its ownership base, more so than bragging on its 420hp V8 or the fact the car is coming up on its 50th Anniversary–a wise move, we think, since Americans are going to easily face $4+ per gallon of gas this spring/summer.  People are going to be focused on how a car fits them, not how it might drain their pocketbooks…

Just about two months ago, we showed off the “new” 1965 Ford Mustang shell blessed by Ford, and now, there’s more to the story here as we near Christmas time.  Today, we read the 1967 Ford Mustang convertible will also join the 1965 Ford Mustang shell already in-demand, and is the fourth reproduction body officially licensed by Ford Motor Company.  The price for this Dynacorn classic Ford Mustang shell?  Just shy of $16K, so doing that restomod of your dreams really isn’t going to break the bank, getting it done right.

So what makes this one so special?  Well, to make the cut, these aftermarket players & pieces have to meet (and often exceed) the fit, finish, and quality of the original production shells & panels.  Well, that should be a decent feat to meet, we think, as there has been a great deal of technological and manufacturing refinement since the mid-1960s.  All this aside, the very notion these shells are becoming commonplace in the time of classic Ford Mustang scarcity (at least non-hack jobs) is pretty cool.  We’re pretty pumped up about it!

As if the news of the 2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 receiving 650 horsepower and 600 lb.-ft. of torque wasn’t awesome enough, we also found the new Shelby snake was to be capable of 200mph.  When we read the details of this 200mph GT500 feat back in November, we were (for the lack of a better term here) floored.  C’mon, 200mph (stable) from a Mustang?  Crazy enough, it’s just what Ford had in mind the entire time.
