Here we are, Ford Mustang fans…it’s mid-March, and on the eve of the 50 year mark of our favorite pony car. The time is finally here, and we’re here to offer up some official intel to appropriately mark the occasion. Both seaboards of the States will serve as kick-off points, with Charlotte Motor Speedway and Las Vegas Speedway holding honors, respectively. When’s this action all get started? We’re glad you asked–just about 30 days from now–on April 16th, 2014.

There isn’t much better than hitting the open road in a Ford Mustang. The only way, or maybe ways it could get better would be to join the ranks of an entire herd for the cruise…and to just happen upon a 50th Anniversary of the very car you’re driving. Sound like a cool adventure to take part in? It certainly does to us.
That’s what is going down this spring, on April 13th, 2014, in Norman OK, where the Mustang Club of America (MCA) is holding host to a national cruise to chart the way to Charlotte Motor Speedway or Las Vegas Motor Speedway, depending. It might sound odd to have two destinations, but actually, it’s the most logical way to get the entire country involved from a centerpoint, expanding out to the coastal regions, where festivities will be held to continue the marking of the Mustang 50th Anniversary.

Make no mistake, the 2015 Ford Mustang has already been making waves, and is sure to make many more as we continue to creep closer to the showroom debut of the car, and the exuberant test drives which are sure to come. What’s interesting this last week in all things 2015 Mustang is that the very first production unit went up for auction at Barrett-Jackson, and brought in $300,000. Yikes. Really?
Being the first one off the line, Ford had to make sure something special marked the occasion, and what better way than to slide the equivalent of some small nation’s GDP towards a charitable cause–the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
One of the other, somewhat less spell-binding takeaways, is that the winning bidder get to fully personalize their new 2015 Mustang GT with any choice of options available on the 2015 Mustang model. Want more? Keep reading to check out the rest of the details in the PR…
It’s pretty cool when the past gets paid its due, and especially remarkable when it surrounds a half-century celebration of continuous production. At the 2014 North American International Auto Show, Ford has the all-new Ford Mustang, Ford F-150, and several other refreshed models for the upcoming showcase on display. What could be quickly passed over at the show, however, is the 1962 Ford Mustang 1 concept–a mid-engined Mustang that never came to pass.
After seeing the 2015 Ford Mustang for ourselves mere days ago, it seems that Ford’s wasting zero time, pushing ahead with the 50th Anniversary event stream. The latest morsel to fall from the table is that the very first retail 2015 Mustang GT is going to be a Fastback style car, destined for the auction block of Barrett-Jackson…for charitable purposes, of course. The Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund (JDRF) is to receive the proceeds from the auction of 2015 Mustang unit #1.
The fortunate (and likely deep-pocketed) auction winner will be able to fully customize his or her 2015 Mustang GT with any of the available options Ford has tossed on the plate–and there’s no shortage of choices by any stretch of the imagination.

Here’s another blazing & eye-catching Ford Mustang to keep watch over at this
year’s week’s SEMA in Las Vegas. This special edition 2014 Mustang GT by Vortech Superchargers is loaded with extras aplenty, including (of course) ample boost to move on up to 600+ hp, a body kit, carbon-fiber hood, enhanced braking, upgraded wheels, and Falken rubber on all four corners, to round out the performance package.
Be sure to keep your eyes out for this one at the Vortech booth, as the Yellow Jacket is going to be one creating lots of buzz, with its vibrant colors and very tasteful modifications.
Well, here’s a little break from all the 50th Anniversary of the Ford Mustang hoopla…let’s talk about this year’s upcoming SEMA show in ‘Vegas. This year’s show is going to be no exception from those past, with loads of aftermarket concepts pouring into the exhibition halls, inciting excitement & disgust all the same. One cool happening to take note of this time around is a very slick reenactment. No, not the Civil War kind, where participants get to nap for 4 hours while “playing dead”, but the type where a tribute to one of the greats is laid forth.
The folks at Hotchkis Sport Suspension are going to bring the one of the most renowned car chase scenes of all time to life for all to see. That’s right, McQueen’s dream will be replayed once again, for all to see, firsthand.

At one point or another, most every Ford Mustang owner has sought to slap on some aftermarket exhaust to get “just that right note” from the loud pedal. While doing so, he or she likely considers a plethora of aftermarket options from the old Jegs or Summit catalog…or some other preferred retailer. To help mark off over 25 years of successfully supplying the Mustang fans (and of course, many others) with quality aftermarket exhaust products, BBK Performance is going to have an anniversary celebration which will include a car show, open house, prizes, food, and drinks for all those in attendance.
So, just when is this going down? Later this month, everyone. September 28th, from 10am-4pm, to be most precise. Make sure to check out the Facebook Event in order to get socially plugged in, and keep tabs on all the developments for the celebration.
Back in early July we told you about a special USAF edition Ford Mustang and all of its supporting details. So the “Gathering of Eagles” auction event happened mere days ago, and the 2014 Mustang GT done-up for a fortunate bidder, was auctioned off with a final price of $398,000. Wow. The cool part about the high price is that it’s for charitable purposes; so the Experimental Aircraft Association’s Young Eagles program benefits as a result.
Every summer in Oshkosh, WI the EAA AirVenture event takes place, with the Ford Mustang and many other exhibits of speed on-hand to demonstrate just how awesome American aeronautical engineering truly was…and still is. The latest commemorative Mustang to help mark the occasion is a special 2014 Mustang designed to pay tribute to the Unite States Air Force Thunderbirds division, equipped with plenty of go-fast goodies and a truly unique Ford VIN of 0001 in the 2014 model year.
The 2014 Mustang GT decked out in USAF regalia will be donated for auction at the Gathering of Eagles charity event on August 1st during the AirVenture exhibition…the world’s largest collection of aviation pomp & circumstance.
