| | | any cheaper side exhaust?
Well, I was looking at some side exhaust, and the only thing I could find was the Borla/SVO side exhaust. and it was close to $700!!! I've NEVER paid that much for just one part of my exhaust. But I know it sounds REALLY good, and I want it lol. Is there anywhere to get it cheaper/ Or is that about the lowest price for that kind of system?
Is there a place where I can jsut thet the mufflers that are made for the side exhaust? That way I could have my muffler shop make me some custom side exhaust, and it would be cheaper. Thanks!

Personally I would just do the regular rear exhaust. The side exhaust is very loud and annoying at speed on the highway b/c the sound is right there by you. Also, some people have had problems with ground clearance over speed bumps and such. Many people have removed their side exhaust and picked up some HP too. IMO..the rear of a stang looks bare without the pipes as well.

The borla side exhaust is actually pretty quiet unless you really step on it. |

MY Borlas aren't side exhaust, but I would say they have the same characteristic that they aren't real loud unless you really step on it, then they get loud in a hurry. |

yeah, i got a friend with a sonoma flowmaster and it sounds really good on that 4.3, but i'm thinking that with a 5.0 like ours will make it a bit loud. |

You said it would be loud and annoying becuase the exhaust is right by you but that is not the case. Just trying to give my first hand experience. *Plus, you get a free Borla hat with the kit. |

That was my point. Borla isn't that loud, but it may be a little too loud for his tastes when it comes out the side. And I mean this from a driver's or passenger's viewpoint since the side exhaust is right there by them.

-Shaun | Yeah, you can get the side exit muffler, dynomax, same one as that kit. I was looking into just changing the muflers at mine but decided to just get a magnaflo cat-back and ditch the side exhaust. Does get kinda loud with the windows down. Actually haven't done the switch yet, need some warmer weather. Could possibly sell side skirts cheap in a coupla three weeks if your interested. Only place I could find that had just the mufflers was www.a-1performance.com . |

As for the system being too loud, I don't think it will be. I had the MAC off road H with my American Thunder on my last car and I LOVED it. I ALWAYS had my windows down. What is the tone like with the side exit though? Is it deeper than with the rear exit?
Also, the dyno-max mufflers, do they have a good sound? or are they crappy mufflers? What kind of sound would an off road H with maybe a custom made side exit exhaust with side exit mufflers. I went to the a-1 website, and I can't find the side exit mufflers. Maybe I'm an idiot lol. It might be becuase I'm trying to do homework too, but I'd probabyl be all into getting 2 mufflers, and having my muffler shop down the street make me a custom exhaust.

Yeah, it really hard to find them, but they have them in 2 1/4" and 2 1/2". Part # 17676 for 2 1/2". Look under the super turbo mufflers, not stainless. I blew mine out cause 1)not stainless and they rusted a little, or/and 2) theres more pressure on back of muffler but exhaust exits on front. Not sure but I would think they'd cost a little hp. Seems more free flowing the better, esp. w/ my 4v. |

-Shaun | Yeah but remember, this exhaust is going to be literally @ three feet from your ear and aimed to your side, not pointed to where you already been. That said, it does look pretty cool and has a nice gargle when rpm's are dropping. I'm sure if you do a search in the forums you'll find a link to a site that has a bunch of different "exhaust sounds". |

It wont be deeper than the MAC H pipe and American Thunder cat back though. |

Oh, I have another question. If I were to get the 17676 mufflers, which I can get at summit for like $50 a piece... If I did that, where could I find some side skirts that would go with the side exit exhaust? I can't find any place that actually sells them. And if they are expensive, it might end up being cheaper jsut do go ahead and get the whole kit instead of $100 for muffs, and ??? for custom pipes, plus sideskirts. I dunno! Too many options! and I don't even have a car yet!

Don't forget that you'll have to get the skirts painted, too, no matter where you get them. Also, the 17676 mufflers are not stainless, so if the kit you're looking at is all stainless, you might be better off getting the whole kit. Also, look at post #9, but I don't know if they would fit a 94-95. |

i have the dynomax super turbo mufflers on my car alog with the side exhaust. its more of a deeper sound than the flowmaster. i also ordered my mufflers from A-1 performance they cost me $90 for both shipped to my door. also like he said i could tell that i lost a little power from the side exhaust, but its well worth it! also a place that sells just the side skirts is a place called cdc concepts. its in any of the muscle mustangs and fast fords also i believe the 5.0 magazine.

Thanks guys! You've been a real big help. but HOLY CRAP! side skirts are EXPENSIVE!!! I talked to the guy about making me an exhaust system, and it'd only cost me 1-2 hundred bucks. I think I might just have the exhaust go under the side skirts. Those rockers are $250 a piece! I would be better off getting the system. Screwwwww that. I think I might just have the tips under the skirts. |

Would I be able to fit the tips under the stock rockers? Because if I bought rockers, I would be better off buying hte Borla kit.
