| | Please read: Saleen's Customer Appreciation Let me begin by stating that I STRONGLY urge all persons not to deal with Saleen and to take your money/business elsewhere.
Here's the story:
On Wednesday October 20th, 2004 I placed an order through Saleen's website for the differential cover and printed the order receipt. On Wednesday November 10, I e-mailed the parts department, because I had not received or been charged for the part, nor heard from Saleen.
Friday, November 12th I recieved the following e-mail from parts: Dear Mr. Baker,
The Aluminum Differentials covers should be due in sometime early next week. We did recieve your order, we have been having some minor growing pains with our website, you will be billed as soon as the item ships out. We appreciate your business and your patience.
Robert Djanazian
Parts Sales
The following Monday (Nov 15th) I checked my credit card and it showed the part being charged for on the 12th. The same day I recieved the e-mail from parts (mind you the part was not in stock).
Wednesday December 1st, I called parts and told them that I have not yet recieved the part. They told me that neither my name nor my order exists in the computer, yet my credit card was charged on the 12 of November.
The person I spoke with over the phone asked me to leave a message for another person in charge of internet orders so he can get back with me, and I did. Roughly 2 hours later I received a call confirming my message/problem and he told me he would have to get back with me. It is now 2 days later and have yet to receive the return call. About 2-1/2 years ago I placed an order for the SSC stripes and they charged my credit card but never sent the stripes. I called and they said the color was off and they had to send for new ones. Ended up canceling that order and now they stopped production.
I once was a huge Saleen fan and live in a household with two Saleens(88-335 & 96-172), but will no longer support Saleen in any fashion/manner.
I will be in touch with Saleen and plan to contact the Better Business Bureau or other proper authority.
Thanks for your interest,
Bryan

Have you tried calling Liz for help?
1.800.888.8945 after noon PST
I am sure you know your credit card company will take of you if Saleen will not.
Best of luck, wish I could be of more help! |

If you (or anyone else) needs SSC stripes please call Mark @ Performance Autosport, and he will take care of you. http://www.performanceautosport.com |

It’s not a scam. Rather, Saleen suffers from poor business systems and management. Out of eight orders I have placed with them since purchasing our car in late ’99, Saleen has screwed up seven of them. If possible, I purchase Saleen parts through Performance Autosport or Haney Motorsport.
I haven’t looked into it myself (especially since I have one already) but I read elsewhere that the Saleen differential cover was no longer going to be offered (for any year car)
Sorry to hear about your problems. I hope you get some satisfaction. |

Everyone is joking. Right? Saleen has problems with customer service and the parts dept. can't get an order correct? HAS EVERYONE been living under a rock for 14 years? Chicane, Haney, Speedworx are the only places to buy Saleen parts. Better prices too!
The ONLY way to buy something from Saleen directly is drive there yourself. Get out of car. Walk inside lobby. Be real nice to Bonnie (receptionist, English accent). Ask for someone in parts. Be prepared to wait at least a half hour. Pray that what you want/need is in stock. Ask if it is on sale. Pay for it. walk outside of lobby. Get back in car. Go home and consider yourself lucky. That is the way I have been getting my parts since Saleen was in Long Beach, Riverside hole in the wall, and location # 2 now in Irvine. If you live too far away you are S@#$ out of luck. Occasionally you could get lucky in the past if Ole Bob Root was not overworked and they actually had something in stock.
All of this should actually be printed on the window sticker of all new Saleen Mustangs and Foci at the dealerships. Really a shame.
V8stang, call Mark like Mike said earlier. I believe he has in stock what you need. Good luck. Anyone with a Saleen or parts hold on to what you have. They may not be around for much longer. |

Marcus, wish I knew your twelve “simple” steps to buying Saleen parts before. One time I called an order in. Everything was in stock but they kept delaying shipping, so I took off on an extended lunch break to pick them up. I arranged to will call the order but that made no difference. I waited a long time and was as cordial as possible to Bonnie the couple times I requested an update on when someone would bring me the order. She did not reciprocate kindly. I left after forty-five minutes.
Bob is gone now, right? |

I ordered them about 2 weeks ago, and they haven't even shipped them yet (not to mention the cost ). Could you give us links to Chicane and Haney? I found Speedworx (left them a message), so we'll see.
What are you guys doing for new pads? I'd love to find some ceramics (brake dust), but most places are just laughing at me |

I am going to switch to them from my Hawk HPSs. The Hawks have worked fine for me (on the street) and generate very low dust but I don’t think the braking is improved over the original Brembo pads.
I don’t know if Porterfield has pads for the Alcon manufactured brakes. |

Yes, I agree.
The hawks do throw less dust and wear evenly like the Brembo pads. They are cheaper also. I could make them fade on my 02 that had the Brembo 13" up front but I had to work at it. I have never tried the Porterfields either as I have the Alcons on my 351 and they do not offer them for my car. At least they didn't last year when I needed some. I have heard good things about them though. Just call Joe at Chicane and tell him what you have and ask what pads he wants you to put on there. He wont let you down.
Oh yea. tick tock, tick tock, tick tock Saleens clock. I'll leave the rest for the newspapers.

Porterfield does make pads for Alcons. I'm on my second set of R4-S pads. Very good pads that are easy on my drilled/slotted rotors. Street driving dust is minimal. Open track use will cause plenty of dust, but who cares on the track!!! |

How were they in price for comparison? Oh, and how do they compare performace wise. I am almost due.
Thanks |

Pricing for the pads were somewhere in the $70 range. Performace is a great solid high pedal. Just to give you an idea of how long they last, I went through my first set in a weekend of open tracking with So-Cal SVTOA at California Speedway's road course. |

| | | Update......
I called Saleen again on Wednesday December 8th and spoke with Joe (or Jeff ???). Joe was actually helpful. He couldn't find my order either, but kept me on the line and eventually found the order under my father's name. He told me the item shipped out on December 3rd and I FINALLY received it today(December 10th). Came with Gasket and Hardware.
I'm glad this process is finally over |

I ordered a gauge pod about a year and a half ago and thankfully I received it without any problems. Last december I installed a Saleen Series II Supercharger (wish I would have gotten the twin screw but I got a pretty good deal on it for $2750 new from corral.net). Getting a hold of Saleen on the phone was very, very tough.
However like Marcus said, I'm in San Diego so I can just drive up there. I had to go up there twice. First for a new belt (my kit came with the 01+) and the other for a carb sticker (cursed california smog laws). Thankfully I didn't have a problem either time as Bob helped me out. The nice thing about going up there was that my buddy and I saw a Beryllium 281e coupe pull up as we were entering.
With that said, I only go there when I have to. You search the forums/ebay and can always find a much better deal. I found my saleen body kit and scoops (real kit) for $500 and the guy was 5 miles away on corral.net. I also picked up a 281e hood on ebay for $570. The guy was about 35 miles south so we just picked it up.
I couldn't find a 281e wing deal anywhere so I got one from Eric at XMP since that is the closest shop that sells Saleen parts for me and I can just pick it up. |

Chicane, Haney, Speedworx are the only places to buy Saleen parts. Better prices too! | Back when i got into my accident i bought a Saleen HE hood from SpeedWorx. You may be familiar with my story, the hood was made wrong and came with a bow in it. If you looked at the hood from the side you could see under the hood (the bottom of the hood was sticking above the fender). And this was AFTER the body shop (familiar with Saleen parts) spent 8 hours trying to get the hood to work right. I took pictures and forwared them to Speedworx.
I guess Speedworx contacted Saleen and Saleen denied my requist to either get a new hood or a refund. So i never got a refund from Saleen or Speedworx. So i spent half the money (Saleen hood is ~$750) and went with a replica hood from StangParts.com and the quality was perfect.
I still have the Saleen hood if anybody wants it
Back in June/July i ordered an S351 Spoiler (94-98) from Speedworx. I have yet to recieve it. BUT Speedworx said then are willing to give me a refund as long as the product was not shipped. I will be following up on their offer here shortly because i am not even going to be in the country for the next couple years.
IF...... IF Saleen gets thier act together ( ) before i get back from the states i would be willing to buy a new Saleen from them. But as i see it right now i will have no problem spending my money elsewhere.
