side exhaust piping

I'm looking to make a side exhaust with one chambers or bullets. The full length flowtubes would make it too long and it would have to do a bunch of bends to exit which I don't want. Are there any negative effects to having the mufflers with very little flowtube right up against the midpipe so I could do one single 90 degree bend out or do you want longer flowtubes? Why didn't companies that make side exit kits do this in the first place instead of having mufflers like borlas kit with the inlet and outlet on the same side? Would there be any gains with a side exit kit like the one pictured comparable to a tailpipe catback? I figured they wouldn't make any less power considering tailpipes have a huge bend over the axle.

Heres a pic of what i'm talking about..........

Well firstly, you cant put a regular "mustang" sized muffler where those Magnaflow Magna packs are at. The reason the current side exhaust companies(borla, dynomax, Spintech) have the same side inlet and outlet is because their mufflers are in the same place as stock.

Now i dont know the shape of one chambers, but Bullets are the same shape as those magnapacks. I dont think anything bad can happen with having less flow tube...but im no pro. I dont think anyone makes a side exhaust kit with these style of mufflers. Im not sure which muffler would give up more ground clearence. You might want to look into that. Maybe thats why no one uses the mufflers

I was thinking about doing the same thing with the bullets so let me know how it turns out.

I have side exit exhaust using the Bullets. I'll try to get a picture from underneath tomorrow.

Stay away from 90* bends when doing a side exit, it creates back pressure. Mine has 45* bends on it, but you may have to cut some custom pipes like i did.

pleeeeeeeeeaaaase someone post some pix of a side exhaust system, and also tells us how to build one!!! That is the one coolest thing I really want on my stang, besides a shaker hood, which isn't gonna happen, cuz no one makes a functional one!!! But side exhaust is just way too awesome!!!

CDC's one is functional, but it basically eliminates any other mods underhood like intake or cold air.

SN95stangman has one on his black GT with the Y2K Cobra R's...looks freaking bad ass, but he has the Borla/SVO kit, which is different from that setup you want.
