I know because it happends to me. I had a buddy with a 03 GT 5-speed. We both just had exhaust...pullies...short throw. The very basics. I would have the edge off the line...the front of his car would be at my door. Bang to 2nd gear...its dead even....get ready to go to 3rd...and im starting to see tail lights. Im not the BEST driver. But i can hold my own. The power just isnt there on the top end.
You say thats where the 5-speed comes in....LS1's come with 6-speeds. Whats your point? Unless u are talking about a auto ls1. And then, i still cant see it happening but u've got a better chance.
And nothing is impossible...i just think that the LS1 has to have a lot of crap holding it back for it to be possible. Terrible driver. A TON of extra weight. A automatic tranny.
Dont take my post as a flame, its just when u compare your car to theirs....its a 300rwhp LS1 vs. a 220-230rwhp stang? And i think thats being very generous with your power. Thats like saying a h/c/i 5.0 wont be able to beat u to 100. Lol...if thats true then everyone is wasting their money.
Do u know details of this trans am? |
I agree.
Actually, I definatly think he could take a LT1 (close, but yeah he could probably take one). An LS1 is COMPLETLY different. Some people don't realize the difference between the two. They think the difference is just the ~30 hp rating or so difference. LT1's can be had by very lightly modded 5.0's, and IMO are overrated from my experiences with them. LS1's on the other hand are animals. And when modded, they are very fast. Without a H/C/I car or close to it, your in trouble.
