its probably got the march alternator bracket with an adjuster rod. look at where the alternator is and see if the top mounting hole has a threaded rod with jam nuts and mounts to a water pump bolt. |

I am also guessing that there is some kind of a tensioner on the alternator. There are many cars that use a moving alternator. If it has nothing, then you are lucky that you aren't throwing belts or having belt slipping problems.
I am another vote for pics |

I've had two mustangs without any kind of tensioner they were just running belts that were way too tight had to be hard on pulley bearings. The one I have now has a clevice deal on it where you can adjust the tension by moving the alternator. |

like to see pics, prob bracketed, otherwise only a rediculously tight belt could hold on... |

wow....makes you wonder why someone who was prying on the p/s pump or alternator to get the belt to fit would think that would be ok. |

Look at the part i have circled, the lower allternato bolt. Looks like whoever did that broke that braket and homejobbed some sleeve and stuck it in there. Anyone else see what Im seeing?

I dont know if that bracket can be welded, and even if it could, you would be better off just getting a new bracket WITH a belt tensioner off of a junk car. If you weld and fix it you still have the problem of having no belt tensioner. This way you can fix 2 problems at the same time, and it will be cheaper then having that welded. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
