[90' LX 5.0]

Ok so im in the process of a AOD to 5-speed conversion and just recently got the pedal assembly in... and today I was going to put the steering column back in the car. I plugged everything in that i could see(to the steering column), and there are still two plugs dangling down there.

One has a white connecter with 4 or 5 wires going to it. Is that the diagnostic port? Does this car even have one? I have no clue.

The other one which im pretty sure was plugged in to something when i started, is the female end of a 3 prong plug. It is black in color and the wires themselves are taped in that wierd black tape kinda stuff. It is coming out of the same tangle of wires that all plugged in to the steering column. About half way up the wire in question is a plastic screw? Any one know where this goes?

I tried to start the car with the new pedal assembly in place(the auto is still in the car) So I try without the pushing the clutch and nothing. Push the clutch in and it tries to start... (NSS works) However it doesnt start and i realize that the fuel pump isnt working, or isnt getting power. Maybe has something to do with one of the plugs.

I also have 4 wires that i had to cut in order to get the old pedal assembly out(some douche wired them through one of the cutouts in the old assembly. 3 of these go out the firewall across to the passenger side and go into this little box attached to the strut tower. The 4th one goes up to the headlights. I have not yet spliced these togethor again. Im going to do that tomorrow and see if she will start. But where does that black plug go?

The wire colors are what is needed here. I am asuming that this is a 90 model car.

Wire color is definitely needed here like J said, but I think most of the connecters under there are all different shapes, so there aren't many places they could plug in.

Ok. The white one has 5 wires. from left to right.
1. Black with a blue stripe
2. Black with a yellow stripe
3. Purple with a red stripe
4. Gray with a blue stripe
5. Black

and


On the 3 pin connector, the wires are:

1. Red with a green stripe
2. Black
3. Purple with a red stripe

Any chance on the 3-pin that the wire color is Purple/Orange rather than P/R?

It might be the shift lock actuator for the AOD. It connects on the top RH side of the column near the ignition switch.

Also with the 5-pin connector there is a match with the exception of the P/O wire.

Hey thanks a lot man. You were right about both.. My car doesnt have a rear defrost so that explains that. And since im switching to a 5 speed that whole Auto Lockout Assembly that is attached to the steering column doesnt need to be there does it?

Got the car started today. I had unplugged the connection under the drivers seat and apparently that connection provides power to the fuel pump.

So i got the new pedal assembly in, and everything put back togethor and everything still works! Including the Nuetral Safety Switch.

So can i just junk that black piece for the Automatic and leave that wire unplugged?

I can't see anything that would cause adverse effects by leaving it unplugged with 5 speed. All the shift lock acutator does is prevent you from shifting out of Park without pressing the brake with the AOD.
