I just ordered me some new headlights becasue I am starting to hate my projectors. I like how they look, but quality is crap, so is light output. So I got the best quality smoked lights I could.

NOW. I have heard most people say that even with some SilverStars, the light output with smoked heads is not as bright as normal, and I REALLY like being able to see, especially with all the deer around here. (I bet it will be better than my projectors though). And I want to go HID. I have seen all these kits on eBay and most of them are single beam kits, which I DO NOT want. I saw a few dual beam kits that still have one bulb, but there is an actual solenoid behind the buld that will change the ange it is at. So anyone think this sounds like just another thing to break? I think you can replace them with the HID bulbs with a smaller halogen on it for the brights, and if one of these automatic ones would break, I could do that.

Basically I want to have more peace of mind that I wont hit a deer, cause I almost did a few nights ago.

if you have fog lights it might look goofy with awesome headlights and yellow fogs.

wont work too well...youll have light EVERYWHERE. you can use a kit like that, but only in the projector housings you dislike.

With reg smoked housings you should only use reg bulbs.

You probably coulda smokes the projectors and got the HIDs

I am curious about this as well.. after all it jsut replaces the light so that part is easy... BUT how well do these kits work/last?

the problem is an intense glare from non-projector housings. youll see great, but nobody else will

but from what i have heard they seem wo work and last fine...no brights though, unless you get the expensive kits

i dont have them either, i just tried to research a bunch!

If you keep looking around, there is a place that sells a Bi-Xenon kit for somewhere around $250, it also has a lifetime warranty.

If you use HID's in a reg light housing you will get a scattered light output. Just re-aim the lights so you don't blind oncomming traffic.

You would have to point the lights all the way down then, and even then there will still be a glare. The only way to get safe hids, for you and other drivers, is to get hid projectors.

Not all housings scatter the light that bad. I had HID's in my Ranger with a set of APC diamond clear lights. They were perfect after I aimed them down a bit. My buddy had some on his 04 explorer which were the same thing. The only way to know for sure is to try it or find someone that has tried it with your light setup.

As others have said, the resulting glare from a non focused hid setup is obnoxious. I was in a discussion about this same topic in the 5.0 talk forums. Take a look at the thread and compare fordguy87's pics to a proper example I posted. http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=691841

Keep in mind too that in most cases, while the hid's are typically brighter…a unfocused setup quite often has a reduced visible distance.
