Need some spyware removal help

Need some help here.

Usually, I know the channels to rid myself of spyware (spybot & ad-aware, and if they don't work I do it manually through regedit and find the files).

However, this one has me stumped.

Somehow, I got some kinda spyware on here that has a .sys file in my System32 folder.

I can't delete the .sys file, and I can't delete the program's folder in the registry, nor any of its entries.

I ran spybot, and it found the program, but said the file was in use and it had to be run on restart to delete the file. So I restarted the computer, spybot ran, found the file, and again told me the file was in use and it had to be run on restart to delete the file Ad-aware didn't seem to find it.

I can't find any "running" files for this program in the task manager, or in the startup list in msconfig.

It's giving me annoying popups so I definitely want it gone. Help me out.

Do it in safe mode. Delete the file and registry entries in safe mode.

Hm, ok...I can't get into safe mode because it won't take my password. Odd.

I'll try that spyware doctor.

Spyware doctor sucks. You have to pay for it to actually remove anything?

I got the trojan deleted off the computer, but now I have other problems...I'll just makea new post about it.

So you want the spyware gone but you don't want to pay for someones hard work to develop the software to do it? Come on. Decide what is more important.

I use Spy Doctor and it works excellent. The only problem I had was it running in the background so with 256MB of RAM it was taxing my laptop. Since I upgraded to 1GB I have no problems whatsoever. You have to shut down the automatic updates if you want to update manually but it has found a ton of stuff on my laptop that I could do without.

You don't need to buy that spydoctor stuff.

No but the free stuff never worked as well as the stuff I bought.

I wasn't very impressed with spydoctor anyway. Ran slow, as was identifying every process than ran on the computer as a potential malicious process.

Also, I wasn't about to pay $30 for something that I wasn't for sure would work. Spybot found the stuff but wasn't able to delete it, because you had to go into safe mode to do it.

I got it for 9

Anyway...I tired most of the free stuff. Ad Aware worked fine for a while then it wouldn't find half the stuff Spy Doctor would. Spybot was OK but I just found Spy Doctor worked better.

As have I, and it was rated the top anti spyware program along with Webroot SpySweeper. $30 is a small price to pay for 0 headaches.

You can run a free trial of Kaspersky. It has two scan settings, the advanced might help you. I ran the basic since I don't know what I'm doing and might delete something vital.

I bought spyware doctor for a problem I'm having. It didn't help. Also ran Norton, ad-aware se, spybot and kaspsersky (basic). Still hasn't rid my problems completely. I posted at this site http://forums.spywareinfo.com/ but no ones gotten back to me yet. I think I'll run some more of the free tools in their FAQ. Or I might just run the steps from an old resolved post similiar to mine.
