rusty rotors

Just washed my 06 gt and noticed that the rotors had rusted over the winter, does this wear off as the season goes on? how to stop this? I didn't use a car cover, or bubble, the car was next to my wife's crv with all that snow and salt. Any other mainers have this issue?
thanks,
Doc

Thanks guys, yes it is where the pads hit the rotors. I kind of freaked, seeing that, I have been driving the car for a few weeks, and the rust is still there. This didn't happen last winter.
be well,
Doc

WAIT a minute DOC

If the rust is still there u have a problem...The face of the rotor should become rust free the first time the pads are applied to it....Now, there is about a 3/8 inch perimeter around the entire rotor that the pad does not contact....is that the rust you are writing about?
