Red face New Challenger R/T Spotted In The Wild

CarDomain Blog

By Danny
aka Dboy23

Driving around up here in Michigan, I spotted what looked to be a white Mustang and a white Challenger racing up in my rearview. Since I've never seen a white Challenger up close I throttled back to let it catch up, and as it got closer I noticed that the rims were similar to those on the Daytona Charger, not the SRT. When it pulled up to the next light I saw the stripes and realized it was the R/T version, the middle-child Challenger with the 5.7L Hemi (as opposed to the SRT's 6.1), priced at around $30K. The '09 R/T's must be available to the public now, because the driver was just an ordinary guy listening to music—no sign of Dodge test computers or anything!

local dealer had an orange srt in the showroom for a couple of weeks, said that who ever bought it had to leave it for a month so they could take orders from it. guess that didnt work out so well for them because its gone now.
got to drive a new shelby a few weeks ago, id take it over the srt challenger in a heartbeat.

Hmm, even the base Challenger SE has a 250HP 3.5L V6.

I wonder how much torque it has though. It seems like a pretty big car to push around with a 3.5L engine.

I have a feeling we'll be seeing tons of base models on the road

The SRTs are the only Challengers out right now. This might have been one that was released early to some one high up in the company or knows some one high up.

Car is hot, I'd def consider one if I was in the market for a common man's V8 muscle car.
