I'm not just trying to shove you off to a link so I don't have to answer that. But that is a pretty broad question. Let me know what kind of improvements/reliability/strength you're looking for.

How hard is it to swap the torque converter ? Can it be done in the car ? I think im mechanically inclined enough, just finished putting in ported and polished npi heads, pi cams and pi intake. Car runs perfect and feels alot stronger Want to maybe go to a bigger cam over the winter so need to upgrade TC.

What do you mean "in" the car. The actual action of putting a new TC in a simple as pie, it just slides in. But you need to drop the tranny down to put it in, and TC's aren't cheap. They are fun for sure, but definitely not a mod you do before rear end gears (like Gearbanger was saying) unless you need to rebuild the tranny. But yes, if you go to a stage II cam or around there a nice 3400+ stall TC is perfect. I'm running a 3200 stall with a stage 1 cam, and the cam actually made the stall a lil less drastic than NA. So i'd say a 3600 stall for cams. For now i'd recommend a shift kit or Jmod (search) and a tranny cooler then some rear end 3.90 or 4.10 gears: all of which can be done without dropping the tranny.
