How much should I pay to get a tune

I called a local shop and asked what it would cost for them to do a custom tune using a tweecer I would buy. They quoted me $300 on top of the unit whether they sell or I buy it on my own. Seems a bit steep. A dyno tune would be $500???

Really?

I just payed $600 for a dyno tune....but the chip price was $150. So the tune in theory was $450.

Well that is right in the ball park. Man, I wish I would have known it would be so dang expensive. I would have just gone carb on the new motor. Would have saved me about $2800 bucks when it is all said an done. Oh well, it's just money right?

Yeah, but once it is done it will be well worth it. Don't skimp on the tune after all your hard work and money spent.....

I would rather do the Tweecer route, but I can't for the life of me find anyone that will build the file for me. Everyone around here says they will burn a custom chip for me only? Grrrr.

I just know that I could figure it out, I just don't have the time to spend doing so... Time<Money but Money<Happy

yes that price is right there,
once you get that bad boy tuned you will love it,esp when its cold out and it starts up and purrs like a kitten!!!

just make sure whoever you take it to has a good reputation for tunning fiveohs,
if its tuned wrong kiss your engine bye bye, check, check, check b4 you take it in for tunning
There are too many hack shops at least here in the Detroit area
Good luck!!
