| | | Pretty or pretty stupid? I'm discouraged... 1. She shouldn't even be using yahoo as it states that they can do whatever they want with your email!
2. FWIU China has a great interest in yahoo! Enough said.
3. In a technological world, this new administration looks like they are unarmed...but appearance may be reality.
4. Ok so IF mccain is a technological moron then I was at least hoping she being younger could pick up the slack. Now it looks like shes just a dumb soccer mom. |

Now it looks like shes just a dumb soccer mom. | In regards to 1, even if what you said is true, you said THEY(meaning Yahoo) can do whatever they want with their email, not hackers. So I don't see why she shouldn't be using it based on that.
And 4, my parents and grandparents aren't exactly technological geniuses but that doesn't mean they are less qualified to be parents or own a business or just are just lesser people.
How does someone hacking her account make her dumb? It happens everyday. Oh and define this soccer mom term you use. |

How does someone hacking her account make her dumb? It happens everyday. Oh and define this soccer mom term you use. | Dude, I am a conservative but if you are the V ice Presidential candidate of the United States let alone Governer, you have to be a real #$%^ing moron to use yahoo email. It is NOT secure! Period! That's my point. (not flaming you - emphasizing).
On 4 I think you are totally wrong. We live in a technological world! If you aren't up with that then you are vulnerable. The changes in the last 20 years are far greater than the changes in the past 50 years before that. We live in a time that requires more qualified candidates than we have been given. And BTW I am not bias toward one candidate or the other, I am for truth not bias. Not that you aren't.
Soccer mom = Gas guzzling SUV drivin mom of 1 or 2 kids driving a vehicle meant for 9 people on a cell phone swerving lanes that aint got a clue. At least thats my definition. Believe me I hope she isn't. I want to see her win. But after reading about this, I am discouraged.

Imagine if the AP found out she was using her government allotted email for personal use. |

She can easily use a secure server somewhere else. Doesn't have to be government. Where are her advisers? Trust me, if they are qualified they should know more than you or me in these aspects. I seriously doubt Governer Schwartznegger has a "yahoo" email account..at least I hope not. She is held to a higher standard now and needs to be more careful... you dont agree huh...: doh:

This day in age though everyone uses email so she would need some type of personal account so she wouldn't have to use her government account.
I agree technology matters, but I don't think someones use/lack of use of email makes them technologically better or worse. By they way, I bet with less use of some of todays technology would make someone less vulnerable (like the internet).
And the soccer mom... I hate that saying. Basically its defining a person by what/how they drive? I would just call them an A hole based on your definition instead of "soccer mom" |

Yeah. I see your point and it makes sense to me on the last part. On the first part though, to me at least, it is common sense to think harder about security and what you do when in the public light especialli when you are going to be in a position dealing with our nations security. She is not Next - door-nancy anymore and needs to plan on what if she actually wins the election.
Secure server they can build for her. And at this point in her career she should have the resources at hand. MAINLY though guys, it makes me wonder if she has done the proper planning to take on the Vice Presidency and does she really know what she's getting into!?? It's like this..Brittany Spears should know better than to walk downtown anywhere by herself. Now that's a bit drastic...or is it... Personal email may be a luxury that she at LEAST has to be more careful with.
Why am I concerned? Because I WANT to vote for her. I know McCain is weak in the technology area...It does bother me.

"It's not a great idea to run a government using Yahoo! e-mail accounts.
Palin and Yahoo Mail
Gov. Sarah Palin's e-mail habit of using a private account to communicate with aides echos the worst practices of the Bush administration, says one expert.
(ABCNews Photo Illustration)
That's the word from experts, anyway, reacting to news that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's Yahoo! e-mail had been hacked earlier this week. McCain's vice-presidential pick apparently used the accounts to communicate with key aides about government business.
The practice is dangerous, said experts, and can run counter to laws ensuring government is open and accountable -- a tough point for Palin, who has made "open government" a catchphrase of her political identity.
By using non-governmental email systems, "Your information is out there available, beyond the official mechanisms there to protect it," said Amit Yoran, the nation's first cybersecurity chief. Yoran is now CEO of Netwitness Corp., a computer security firm for government and private entities. " |

Either way, if she was using her private email to communicate with business/governmental contacts, then yahoo probably was not the greatest idea. Even still, you *could* use yahoo or gmail, you just have to ensure that it runs through an appropriate encryption protocol. See below. Quote: |

SSL, PGP, GPG. | If the hacker guessed her password, what would any of those have done? Quote: |

If a hacker was able to obtain such sensitive information, then appropriate security measures were probably not being used. Otherwise, she used a weak password (ALASKA!) and now she knows better. |
