My first Ding.

Well i bought the car in May with 02mile son her, and 8000 miles later it finally happened i popped my cherry...I got my first ding...

It is small and virtually unseen to the untrained eye but to me it is the only thing i can see. I have been so careful to park in open areas of lots and end parking spots of the rows ect. this time it bit me.

I was parking in the last spot of a parking garage row, and i was leaving plenty of space for doors to open and pull forward to get out of the lane...and as i eased ONTO the brake i was "easing" it into the corner of the corner guard rail...

It was touching so lightly it didn't even bend the plastic in on the bumper, but it was the movement of getting out i think that cause it to scrap the paint...It is about 1/2 long and the paint basically pushed "accordion" like and wrinkled up...She is no longer flawless, i am going to try to use this as an excuse to talk the wife into letting me get a roush bumper. LOL
thats what i get for trying to avoid door dings in parking areas...

Ouch! The first one always sucks the worst. After a while you get more used to it. I've been using my '07 for almost two years as a daily driver so it has quite a number of small scratches and paint chips I'm sure most people would never notice but I know exactly where each of them are. By now I'm used to it because I know it's unavoidable unfortunately

Yeah, the paint isn't terribly durable on these cars. I figure in a year or so once I get a secondary car I'll have to repaint the whole front end of the Mustang.

Well, I was in a parking spot, no one across from me so I thought I'd just pull forward and get out. I forgot there was a raised curb type surround where a tree was planted. Anyway, scrunnch.

"i am going to try to use this as an excuse to talk the wife into letting me get a roush bumper. "

Now that's quick thinking. I would most definitely do the same. You might have to rough up the bumper a little more to get the desired outcome.

I have stone chips and what not from driving it almost every day since 2005, but the thing that gets me is the 5 door dings on it...none worse than the one I got a few days ago. Right in the crease along the side of the car. Some people have no class...

+1!
I even have the chips at the scoops behind each door!

Then, just this past Monday, I was driving down I 95 when a good sized piece of plywood was kicked up by a pickup in front of me and I tried to slow down in time (couldn't change lanes) and it hit right at the front of my hood on the driver side A small piece had broken and landed just above the passenger wiper on the windshield. I quickly pulled over to the left shoulder and inspected my car. It buckled my tag a little, dented the leading edge of the hood just above the driver headlight which cracked the paint and put five small scuff marks across the hood leading edge, about a two foot long scuff up the hood and a small scuff next to the passenger side washer nozzle. I've already had the insurance company come take a look at it and need to schedule to drop it off at the auto body shop next week. I felt ill when I saw the damage even though it could've been worse.

start with the upper hole, and if more traction is needed, try the lower hole

The hood isn't that messed up and they only gave me $263 above my deductible to have it fixed. It is messed up bad enough that I want it fixed ASAP and not wait another few months to save up for a aftermarket hood I want the Steeda cowl hood, GT/CS rear bumper and complete repaint with stripes
