taurus wiper problems

HI, my dad has a 93 taurus 3.8 an the wipers only work when they feel like it. we have tried two wiper motors an a new switch an it still does it. I'd like to check out the intermittent relay but don't know where it's at. Can any one help me out? thanks.

Most relays are found in the power distribution box under the hood. Do you know where this is located? It should be along one of the fender wells or near the firewall. If you can, take a picture of the engine bay, and I'll do my best to help you out.

I did a search an found a wiring diagram on the autozone website: AutoZone.com | Vehicle Selection - Year This diagram shows it behind a removable pannel under the dash but doesn't give any details. I may have to start the car an listen for the seat belt chime. Looks like its close to the wiper relay in that pic.

I can't access 1993 manuals online, I can try to look for the old books on monday but 1993 model year books are spotty many techs over the years have taken them and never returned them

What I would do is try another relay.. then you need to remove the steering column cover and check all the wiring int he column.. pay close attention to the pin fit on the multifuntion switch as I have seen the wires pull out of the connectors there.

then trace the wiring and wiggle it while checking for operation..
