You'll need to get a chip to re-tune the transmission for the gears and the wide ratio gears. My GT has the wide ratio gears and 3.73's, and I was always bouncing off the rev limiter in 1st. I just bought a Moates chip and altered the tranny program some, and it shifts much better. Still needs a lot of tuning though.

I've done some research and saw that people were saying that with a 3.73 the car would hit third in the quater and fall on it's face. but I was wonering since the car was so heavy would the difference be noticable at all. also I keep chewing up speedo gears. does anybody know what I need to change to keep this from happening. I know the driven gear needs to be changed but I think it is part of the shaft??? if so what do i need to buy??
?

Figure out based on your track tire size and gearing what RPM you want to cross at. There are several online calculators to help ya figure this out. You probably want to be crossing in 3rd around 5,800-6,000 rpm.

Off the cuff without knowing the ins and outs of your combo I think you will be fine with 3.73s on the spray and a 26inch-ish tire.

Wes

P.S. Lock that converter after each WOT shift!

Just out of curiosity, have you dyno'd your current setup?

yeah I have, chris tutten did the tuning for me. I can't remember the numbers but I'm thinking it was like 278 rwhp off the spray

ok guys got a whole new set of problems. went to have the car tuned and driveability is 110% better. also the converter locks up perfect and shifts are firm and crisp. cant seem to make a pull on the dyno though. it wants to down shift let go or unlock at about 4500rpm at WOT. even locking it in 3rd by chip raising shift point and lowering down shift point does no good it still does it. bear in mind that the I have the wrong shaft to correctly drive the white spedo gear. could this be a problem??? the speedo is still off about 7-10 mph. I'm beating my head into the wall trying to figure this out myself. or could I need a bigger servo. any advice/ideas would be a great help.

I've got a template that will keep it locked on the dyno:

Automatic Dyno Settings - [tunexchange: Proudly burning chips and rubber since 2008]
