Fuel pressure recommendations

I have a 95 GT with a vortech V-1 supercharger with forged flat top SPR pistons, AFR heads, gt-40 extreme cam, gt-40 intake, Motorvation chip, 70cc TB, MDS ignition which retards the timing one degree for every pound of boost. I have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator with a gauge so I can put it to whatever I want. It was set at 53 with the vacuum off and it hunted to idle really bad, 53 sounded rather high so I dropped it down to 43. The idle cleaned immediately after and a week later I blew the motor running down the highway at 2500 RPM. I am having it rebuild but now want to make sure I have a good pressure. I don't know if the pressure caused it because of detonation or it was just a coincidence. I need help I don't want to blow another one.

was the chip programmed for the supercharger ? and what MAF and injectors are you running and does the car have an FMU on it ? did you get the air/fuel checked with a wideband ?

Yes the chip was programmed for the supercharger, I have 36 pound injectors, I would have to double check on the MAF and I dont think it has an FMU, if thats what I think it is. No It wasnt checked with a wideband.
