exhaust

Im planning on converting my 2008 v6 from a single to a dual exhaust. I know that I want the SLP Loudmouths for an axleback but what else do I need? I want to customize my exhuast instead of buying a packaged catback system.

2 suggestions:

1. If you want duals out the back similarly setup to a GT, then you'll need a GT rear bumper. You can sometimes find these at takeoff stores. Or if you want to dump them, which would make it rediculously and obnoxiously loud without mufflers, you could do that too.

2. If you just want the SLP loudmouths, save yourself some money, go to a mufflershop, and just have them weld in straight pipes where the mufflers would normally go, pick out some nice 3.5 inch tips and your done. Less money spent and the same effect.

Cross shop the boomtubes as well. Less expensive and not as raspy.

Well all i heard that i needed was an axleback, midpipes and either an x or h pipe. What will the straight pipes do? I have an axleback picked out so all i thought i was lacking was midpipes and x or h pipe. Im not adept at exhaust research but that was what i found. Also i like the slps cause my uncle has it on his GTO and he is crazy bout them and reccomended them to me.

I'm certain that the V6's still Y-pipe, so from your exhaust manifolds on each side, they will come together at a Y pipe, and then single pipe to a single muffler on the driver side.

If that is the case, you'll need a midpipe (H or X pipe), and a muffler shop to weld those stock exhaust manifolds to the h/x pipe, and maybe put in a little custom tubing if it's not a direct fit. you'll also likely be looking at a catback for a GT, which has all the dual exhaust piping from the midpipe back, since you currently only have one pipe. You also need a GT bumper, or cut out from your v6 bumper for the exhaust tips, GT bumper is highly preferred if you care about the looks.
