| | | I just got a 1999 Cobra Vert and wanna mod it........Help me I just bought a very clean 1999 Mustang Cobra Convertible, triple black car.....very nice, but bone stock. I plan on driving it daily, so I want reliable mods. I changed to oil over to Mobil1 synthetic oil. I already ordered and am having a full Bassani exhaust, including new high flow cats, cross over pipe and 2.5" muffler system. I also plan on a K&N filter upgrade or some sort of CAI. Is changing the throttle body worth the $$$? I will also go to 3.73 or 4.11 gears when money allows, seems they are expensive to change...cheap enough to buy but time consuming to install.
What other mods give the most bang for the buck. I am not interested in a blower or supercharger.
thanks,

| | You pretty much named them all. A set of long tubes really wake up the 4V engines too. For CAI only go with JLT or Anderson, all the rest would flow the same as your stock box with a K&N filter in it. Dont bother with the t-body because the stock can flow more then a N/A 4.6 can. Under drives will help some too. A tune will give you the best gains though.
I would suggest upgrading your IRS bushings as well as get a diff cover brace and some full length sub frame connectors.
The bushings make a big difference on the cars bite and the FLSFCs make the car so much nicer. The diff cover brace is because when you get over 350 hp and load it hard in a corner you can crack the diff cover. And a MGW shifter would really enhance the shifting feel.
Oh, if its gonna be a DD I would suggest 3.55s or 3.73s if you are on the highway allot.

| | I would save for a blower if I bought any 4v.The numbers on just a little boost are good enough .
But that is $. I would go full exhaust. |

| | Is the SCT X3 Tuner worth the $400, or do you guys suggest another tuner, like diablo or Jet performance programmer?
I am probably gonna go with the JLT, rated highest as I can see and most likely 3.73's, I run mostly highway. |

| | I just installed the JLT CAI.......I dont know if its just me, but it sounds different for sure. Maybe a little better response, but hard to tell. It seems as though when warmed up and taken for a nice ride it idles a little lower than normal. Talk about delivery, I ordered it last night and it was on my doorstep by the time I got home from work.....wow. Waiting for Bassani high flow cats and x pipe and cat back system to come in, as well as the SCT tuner to come in next. I didnt dyno it before, but may do a run to baseline it. |

If you want to do multiple cars with one programmer then you would have been better off with a Sniper. They can do two cars out of the box and you can buy "bullets" to tune as many cars as you want.
I was thinking about selling mine since I dont have the Cobra anymore and the Lincoln does not need it. |
