98 cobra giving me hellllll!

Ok here we go my car was running like a champ till the other day when it died on me and if i started it back up it wont even react to me pushing the gas sometimes i have to keep rapidly tapping the gas then take off and keep it at high rpms to keep it going that all of a sudden stopped then the other day the rpms would stick real bad when i shifted and not drop at all and when i push in my clutch or put it in neutral the rpm will jump to 1600 and sit till i take off again it gets worse as the car gets warm but sometimes cant notice when its cooler

So many things. Check the IAC and clean/replace it. Clean the blades on the throttle body. Clean the MAF meter (and it could be bad). Do you have a MIL?

What mods do you have on the car? Any recent changes or mods (ie - chip/tune) ?

If not, your Idle Air Control (IAC valve) is a good place to start. May want to try cleaning and/or replacing it.

bad contacts with chip?

I had similar problems which were caused by a plug-in chip: stalling, occasional high idle. I think the chip connections were not good, no idea why. Once the chip was removed the problems went away.

i have a some what of the same question except my 96 wont idle for that long with out it acting like its about to cut off. but i will tell i have not clean or replace the iac, maf or cleaned the throttle blades. the motor is high mileage say around 250k the odo. stop at 210k 2yrs ago. but besides that it runs great but just when sitting at a light to long is when it starts to act like it wants to cut off.
