Russia can't fight, not at least on the level the USA can. It takes russia a month to do what the US takes a day to do.

The only way N. Korea could take S. Korea would be a nuclear attack, the troops we have there now could easily take down the unequipped, untrianed N. Korean military.
you are only kidding yourself about Russia. if they really wanted to pulverize Georgia, they would have. they were "playing nice" so to speak.

North Korea has biological and/or chemical weapons as well. one nuke will deliver a hell of a blow. it doesn't matter that we can beat anybody. what matters is we don't have the resources to police the world. not to mention the U.S.'s time as the only superpower is over.

I've seen a lot of videos and pics of people dead or dying, but for some reason that one of "Neda" is especially disturbing for some reason - not because it's especially graphic, per se (I've seen wayyyyyyyy more gory), but the circumstances surrounding it and ... I dunno. Maybe the swiftness of how fast she apparently bleeds out? Either way, it's damned unsettling, to say the least.

The rate at which the life force leaves her body as we witness the look of desperation in her gaze, quickly followed by the final emptiness in her eyes was certainly disturbing.

It's kind of strange the way her eyes are turned sharply to her right as she collapses, and then just as the blood comes up, her eyes suddenly look straight forward. Creepy. And sad. Can't help wondering what was going through her mind in those last moments.

She's being held up for a martyr for the cause...the video is really sad and quite upsetting.

I'll be interested to see what happens on the 40th day after her death

Wait its no longer the U.S.'s fault, it is now the fault of Western Media. CNN responds to Iranian hacking accusation - CNN.com.

CNN has offically trained terrorists. Wow.

Well at least the U.S. is partially off the hook now. I think that is the U.S. Governments clue to stand back and let other parties handle the situation. Let China or even Russia take point on this issue. After all it is there oil.

I believe Iran and the Iranian people would not welcome interference from any outsiders.

One of my Farsi teachers said that Persians are mainly tired of fighting(war) and the one thing that they really do not want is violence. The people older than 30 lived through a large amount of violence in the 70s-80s and those younger than 30 have grown up with the reminder of that violence every day. So I am sure they are more likely to follow the route of least violence, which ever that may be. More than likely that is without outside inteference. But maybe if one of their largest importers(Russia/China) steps in they might listen.

But than you would have to look at what influences that U.S. culture has on the youth in Iran. There is a very large portion of the Iranian youth that is into U.S. hip hop and hard rock culture. It is largely underground however the internet is making it accesible which would be a reason that the Iranian government is so keyed up on what they call "cyber war".

I understand that but my point was if they wanted no outside envolvement why would there be so many signs in English? I don't know for sure it was a question. I've never been to Iran, are there alot of English speaking citizens there?

yes english is taught in some schools in Iran and the reason for the english signs is they want the WORLD to see them not just a small group if u look alot of there signs have it written in english on one side with farsi on the other.

God I hope we stay out of Iran. It would be nice to see how another part of the world handles things when we keep our nose out of it. Might do great things for Iran/US relations in the future if we just mind our own damn business on this one and watch like everyone else is.

This should get very interesting...

I'll ask the inlaws if they've spoken to anyone over there recently. Last I heard it was not nation wide and it was not as wide spread as we're to believe. It was just a few hundred people in Tehran.

You guys gotta understand that if you stand up to the Shah you disappear. You can like west coast hip hop all you want but at the end of the day if you get caught with it...

I bet it spreads but I don't know if it will overtake the Shah. There are MANY religous people there who just 30 years ago fought for this man. The president over there is more of a public face, he really does nothing. The council and the supreme leader have all the power. Everyone else is a puppet.

Haven't you been watching the news? Photos taken from the air showing the sheer masses of protesters? It's tons more than a few hundred.

Nobody's talking about military forces. Just support which is late coming and weak at best. Check this out.

They're into hip-hop, now that's an excellant illustration as to how they're not into violence.
