For Sale: 1985 LTD 5.0 cfi, police package, sat for 6 years, Frazier Park, CA, $200

Hey, I need to get rid of my car in Frazier Park, CA, which is between Bakersfield and L.A.

It's an 85 Ford LTD, 302 V8, throttle body (CFI) injection, with the police package (heavy duty suspension, silicone hoses, different rear end, wire harness, auxiliary guages, 140mph speedo, etc.) It's built on the same Fox chassis of course as the Mustang.

I inherited this car from my grandpa and it was my baby throughout college, but it has since been sitting for about 5 years now on my dad's property and registration is expired. I'm selling it for him (pink slip is in his name). The sad story is I quit driving it because it wouldn't pass smog because the check engine light wouldn't come on with the key on. Later on I discovered this is perfectly normal and is how the police cars were wired, because they had guages rather than using the check engine light as a dummy light for the coolant and oil. So yeah, it failed smog even though it was wired per the factory and running fine. It's sat ever since aside from starting and driving it maybe 4 times over the past 5 or 6 years, last time being about 2 years ago. It was covered until about 2 years ago when the cover finally deteriorated.

The battery still holds a charge and the tires hold air, but you'd have to tow it out of there. The car has a receiver hitch in back if that helps any. I'm living in San Diego but will work with you and him on meeting up and showing the car. The car is undriveable because the coolant froze up and cracked the timing cover. I have a replacement timing cover included, but never installed it. The gas is surely stale too and will need to be flushed. And I'm sure the whole car will need some going through.

The radiator was upgraded to a 3-row racing radiator.

It has 16" aluminum 10-hole mustang wheels on it.

Tires are probably cracked from dryrotting.

Paint is oxidized and flaking in several locations (maaco).

Interior is so-so, mainly just tears in the drivers seat.

I added floor carpet and the dash clock. (Cop cars originally came with rubber floormats!)

Minor sheetmetal damage on right rear fender.

Includes all Factory Service Manuals,

Includes mustang transmission support for dual exhaust

Aftermarket 2.5" exhaust with high flow carsound cat and Flowmaster 50 series muffler.

Class 2(?) hitch.

These cars are relatively rare with the V8, it'd make a great sleeper for someone. I have no idea what it would cost to register it, I don't feel like waiting in line at the DMV to find out because I don't have the time or desire to do anything with it anyways.

I have some pics, I'll get those uploaded in a bit.

Please contact me by email, I don't frequent this forum much anymore.

Here's a few pics I took recently at the bottom of this ad:

1985 Ford LTD, 5.0L cfi, police package, sat for 6 years

I corrected it to say "sat for 6 years" I think that's more accurate.
