the stock one, i'm assuming the stock one for power steering equipped cars, since it's a 16:1 ratio box, if you were to use the manual steering pitman i would think it throw off the ratio, at least at the steering wheel anyway.

Thats up next, now that we have it in production for the Mustangs/Cougars we have started research to bring it to market for the other Fords / Mercs.

It will fit with any stock 1" or 1-1/8" Pitman arm. (We offer the box in both sizes) The lenght of the Pitman arm will however still effect overall steering speed. The box is a 16:1 ratio with 4 turns of the Input shaft lock to lock, a longer Pitman arm will speed that up at the wheels.

Thanks, Jeff

Thats a tough one, we are a true manufacturer with an exisitng distribution network. We do sell all of our products direct however at full retail price to insure that our dealers an distributors can maintain the ability to make money on our products.

An idea on pricing

And idea on pricing for complete kits below. The most affordable R&P conversion that is complete is $1,599 and again our box retains a stock look, simplified steering linkage (to the column), full turning radius and full ground clearance.

Thumbs up Refund for original box.

Included with conversion box is a form to obtain a $65.00 refund if you send us your original manual steering box. Even with the cost to ship us the box this is another quick $50 of the cost of the conversion.

pump question using 5.0 serpentine

I've got an '89 5.0 engine in my '66 with the serpentine setup. Would I have to adapt your pump or would the 89 model pump work?

Your 1989 5.0 pump should operate our conversion box just fine. I would need to know the high pressure fitting size on your pump to get you the proper hose kit.

Dealers / Distributors

All part #'s for Mustang conversion are now good with Summit, Jegs, Motorstate, and Keystone. We are busy getting more on board as fast as we can.

Thanks,

Even the Banjo fittings like sold by Pure Choice Motorsports are too tall?

Yes unfortunatley, we tried the banjo fittings and there is just no room to clear the Z-Bar.

Thanks, Jeff

Do you have any photos of the Z-bar hitting the box/hose fittings?

Didn't take any photos of it as it wasn't even close. With the box properly lined up to the column, the Z-bar crosses right over the top of the casting where the hoses enter the box. There wasn't any room for a fitting. I am sure one can (and will) modify the Z-bar to make it fit. This is possible but not something we as a manufacturer would really want to provide any instruction or guidance on.

Thanks, Jeff

The fittings are 16MM flare fittings for both the pressure and return lines.

This is GREAT news.
I have 2 cars, both of which I haven't been driving because of the steering.
I was ready to spend the money this winter to swap in rack and pinions, boy I'm glad I waited!! I,ve been saying for years what a retarded P/S setup these cars have, I wish they had a box like the GM cars have..(corvette excluded)

When are thes available?
I have :
1966 vert with the 289/auto p/s.
1969 Mach1 351C/auto p/s.

Thanks....I'm so happy I could kiss you guys!!!
Kevin

Boxes are in stock and presently shipping. We offer both configurations you will need. 1" Sector for the '66 and a 1-1/8" for the 69. On a side note we fixed the 63-82 Corvette problem with a new box this year as well.

Thanks, Jeff

Will be buying the complete PS setup this week

This set up is what I was looking for.
I plan to order the complete kit including Saginaw pump from Jegs this week and update the board on fit and clearance.
It will be installed in a 69" Mustang fastback,351w,automatic,non power steeering car. Hooker headers.

I spoke with Gil and got the part numbers for my application. Summit does not carry the parts

i have a question concerning the mustang and corvette boxes. basically i was wondering if the mustang box could be upgraded with the same 12.7:1 ratio as the vette box? they both appear to be based on a late model delphi 600 series box and i know the vette box, is the mustang box also based on the delphi 600 series box? any ratio that is better than the stock 15:1 on the mustang box would be great and i noticed your conversion box for the mustang still has the stock 15:1 ratio. is it even possible to change the ratio on your conversion box?

With the core we are using for this conversion box changing the ratio is not possible. Internally the box is 4 turns lock-to-lock however on the car running bump stop to bump stop is only 3-1/2 to 3-3/4 turns.
