New Focus (and other Ford car) question re: Sync

How hard is it to, while retaining Sync functionality, upgrade the stereo system in a new Focus (I would assume this question applies to all other new Fords with Sync as well)? Does it require keeping the stock head unit?

I'm going to be getting rid of my Caddy and probably getting a Focus with Sync. The Caddy has a fairly nice stereo setup already and if possible I'd like to hook it up (at least some of it) in the car.

Also... does the stock HU on the new Focus have pre-amp outlets for subs etc? If I don't sub in the Caddy's HUD, it'd be nice to at least stick in the sub and the amp I use to power it.

Thanks

I was asked to check on this thread but to be honest I am not sure..

I do not think you can use another head unit and still have sync..
