Exclamation 87 2.3 1st mustang!!

hey guys,
wanted to join this forum because just yesterday i bought a 87 2.3l mustang a little 4 banger for $300 bucks. the body and the interior is in very decent shape(lady driven) and this lil car has lots of potential. but theres obviously a reason why it was 300 bucks. the owner could not tell me much, but by the looks of things shes got antifreeze in her engine oil cuz the oil is really milky, and when the car is started up it honestly sounds like a machine gun is going off. im in the process of doing research on parts and where to start taking this thing apart but if anyone could give me any input on where to start or if anyone has had similar problems with their 2.3l input would be much appreciated. ive done repairs on my vehicles but nothing this major so im very eager to learn a bit more about this stang and hopefully come out on top.

just a few more questions...
could anyone pin point the pros and cons of these 87 2.3l. ive done some research and by the looks of things there seems to be lots of problems with the engines. how come?

what other kind of engine can be somewhat easily mounted into this car?

thanks a lot

aaron
