Smile WHAT DO I NEED ????? HELP

Ok this is the deal > Fri night I'm going to Iland drag way > I have one vette and two camaros I'm going to race > one camaro is stock lt1 > easy win for me > the vette is a stock 94 with M/T drag radials > I'm pretty sure I can beat it > the second camaro is what I want to kill bad >Its got a worked motor and is supost to run mid low 13's> the kid has been running around town telling every one he beat me / but we have never raced> but when I said something to him he back pedled > fast > It sound childish but hey its going to happen !!! >
My car is a 98 Cobra the bst I run stock was a 14.1 at 100mph it now has a MAC cat back and cat-less x-pipe > I have a JLT filter kit for the mass air sensor i'm going to put on and a set of under drive pullys > Today I just put a new set of Nitto 275/40/17 Drag radials on the back .
I also have a WET nitrous kit that I plan on spraying a 90 hp shot threw >I don't have time to order or buy anything else for the carbefore Fri night ..... will all this get me to the high 12's or low 13's?

With 100 MPH trap speeds, you're already knocking on 12's. How was your 60' time? What year is the Camaro with that's only running 13's with a worked engine? If it's an LS1 Camaro, it's 12 second capable off the showroom floor, so you might have a bit more trouble there. It sounds like you just need practice. Good launches and consistent shifts, while driving it like you stole it.

both camaro's have lt1 motors> but the one i want to kill at the track is suppost to have a Liendifeltter vette motor in it > but it only ran a 13.5 at the track/ my 60. foot times are like a 2.2 > I did have alot of trouble with traction at the track and chirped the tires all the way to fourth gear. thats why I bought the drag radials> so I can launch harder.

whats the best clutch to put in my 98 cobra ?

Sounds like you won't need much if you're saying they're both LT1s and a 13.5 Vette. If I were you I'd get a tune with that wet-kit along with 4.10s. Cai and LTs wouldn't hurt either.

I want LONG TUBES but there $400 plus a x-pipe > so thats out for a while till I get some cash> I put a JLT filter pack on the car today > no cash for a cold air yet > and I only plan on spraying tops 90 hp with the nitrous > so I don't think I need a tune just yet > but I don't know crap about N2O so ????

Drive it. There's not much else that needs to be done, really. Practice, practice, practice, and when you think you have your launches down, practice them some more. Some gears (4.10's to 4.30's), sticky tires, and just literally driving the wheels off the car is what will get you there. With your nitrous, you should be there now.

Yea what he said-Practice. I would hold off on the nitrous until you get your traction problems under control. If you just keep adding stuff to get more power, things could end badly. Oh and what nitrous kit? make sure you use a window switch. As far as beating the other cars, don't make that your goal. Next time your at the track, ask the staging guy to let you make a couple solo runs to maybe calm the nerves brought on by racing someone else. Other than that, your next mods should be 4.10's and upper and lower control arms. power is nothing if you can't hook up! Good luck.

+1. I had similar problems until I touched up the suspension on my GT. Also - don't fear the gear!
