03 saleen possible purchase.

I know it kinda depends on the condition but is an 03 Saleen supercharged for 23,000 it only has about 19,000 miles. Its also a convertible. Anything imparticular i should look for that could be wrong with it?

Look at the basic service records and if any mods were done to it -- and undone.

There are some good buys out there, so check other classifieds for similar cars and what they're asking.

Look closely at the fascias for scraping and re-painting. Make sure all the parts are there and general condition.

Look at options... SOEC has a huge library of spec sheets which list available options at Saleen Owners and Enthusiasts Club - SOEC - Vehicle Specification Sheets

Call 800-888-8945 option 2 with the last 8 digits of the Ford VIN to verify authenticity and options as built.

In the right condition, the price doesn't sound bad.

At New Car Prices, Used Car Values, New Car Reviews & Car Buying Guides - NADAguides.com Official Site check the Used Car Prices for Sports Cars, select Saleen and look at the numbers as part of your overall assessment on price. They are likely to be a tad high compared to current market.

Well I called and verified the vin and they said yes. And listed all the options it had and the such. Sounds great! I haven't seen it in person yet only photos. So anything else I should look for?

Does the mileage seem kinda low? It had 26 reports on car fax but none of them were negative.

Wow, isn't 26 allot for an 03? Maybe since they go from the factory to the saleen shop it adds more, but it still isn't registered at that point.... not sure

A lot of Saleen owners bought these as Sunday drivers as well as daily drivers... it seems it's just as common to find a low mileage car as it is a high mileage car.

Last year a buddy bought a 1995 S351 with less than 1/4 the miles as that... it looked like new... looked like you could eat off the undercarriage.

dls322 : 26? The price is 23k and mileage is 19k Plus its a convertible saleen supercharged. NADA says 25k for a LOW retail, 30K for average and 35k for a HIGH.

Jim D. ok well i go tomorrow to check it out and test drive hopefully. Its seems like a very nice car.

26 was the number of carfax hit's that I thought you said it had. I thought that sounded high. Awesome that you bought it, post some pics!!

And one of mine is an '00 with over 103,000 miles, some of which have been in the snow

It is all in what you bought it for

I'm up to about 680 miles this year in it. While it pains me to have such a car that I don't drive much, it also keeps it "fresh" to me. If I don't drive it for two weeks, when I do finally get in it, it feels like a new toy all over again.

Kinda like when it comes out of hibernation in April, but to a slightly lesser degree.

That, and if I drove it all the time, I'd probably have a wrap sheet longer than my leg.

By driving it minimally, I'm keeping my insurance down.
