97 svt 1/8

Ok someone tell me if this sounds right. My 97 cobra has a bbk throttle body, blassani x pipe, flowmasters, bbk cai, 4.10 gear, good falken azenis (315/30-18), and a sct tune. Pretty much all of the bolt-ons and 42k on the clock. I thought it felt pretty quick on the street at least comparable to a similar modded fox. I went to our local test and tune for the first time last night in the car and it ran between 9.20 and 9.40 depending on my reaction. It kinda hurt my feelings when my buddy was running 8.80 in a similar modded 95gt. Does this sound right, this is my first 4v car had a bunch of 5.0s and have never been let down as far expectations go. Is something wrong or is that about right for a car like this. I hope not, but any info is appreciated.

60' time? DA? Temp outside? Those can all make a huge difference. At my local track here in Pinellas County, a friend of mine had a 92 notchback with exhaust, 3.08's, and underdrive pullies. He pulls consistent 8.8-8.9 with around a 1.8 short time with power shifts.

Reaction time does not effect ET in anyway. Depending on your short time(60'), you do have some room for improvement, but will take seat time. A 8.8-9.0 is ok for a stock car. However, you have heavier 18" wheels, a 4.10 gear and a street tire which will make coming out of the hole tricky. Your short time is where it will be at. A car with your mods and good driving can see an 8.6-8.8.

Slicks won't bog it down if you know how to launch it. Personally I would run a Drag Radial instead of a slick(you don't need it yet). You have to launch at a higher RPM with a DR or you will bog.

My 96 Cobra with 4.10's, L/T's, H-pipe, Cat-back and 8lbs of boost from a Vortec ran 8.0's-8.1's at 93-95MPH in the 1/8 mile with a 1.9 60ft and Nitto Drag Radials launching at IDLE. 1/4 mile that run was 12.53@114MPH.

I drive a fairly stock 97 Cobra and raced for the first time last month.

First try out (lucky launch) running 1/4 mile but got full slip times:

1/8 : 8.92 @ 80.35 with a 60' of 1.98
1/4 : 13.72 @ 102.5

I was quite happy since the magazines put the stock time of 13.9 for the 1/4.

I have CAI and 4.10's running 245-45x17 out back on that run. Planning to do a full exhaust this winter and get it tuned in the spring. Hoping to get down to 13.0 with 315-35x17 in the back.
