Question Break Question

Hey guys,

Ok so I'll give a brief description of what I'm hearing so we can figure out if it's normal or not. If I'm turning and working the clutch and gas with my foot (this usually happens in a drive thru window, so picture that) if I hit the break pedal, no matter how hard, I hear a loud metal to metal clicking noise come from the bottom front of the car. I haven't narrowed down the situation other than that so it's not like I can go to a parking lot and drive around to duplicate, so I think there's something else at play here, such as a small incline.

Anyway, I also noticed that if I have my foot down on the break, not hard, but stopping in a hurry, if I hit a bump in the road I litterally feel the break pedal push back at me. Is this normal?

Im sure the Brake pressure is going to come back at you if you stomp the pedal....Not alot though. As far as a clinking noise when applying the brake.....Not Normal.

Ha, I just noticed I used the wrong "Brake" in the title

Stomping the brake isn't what I'm doing in that situation, just medium pressure on the pedal. Although I'm sure you're right on that one.

However, I need to drive around and try to duplicate the clicking issue. It doesn't do it every time, and I'd rather be able to duplicate it when I go back to the dealership so I don't get the run around.

Reminds me of when I had my Explorer, the sunroof would leak in the rain and they couldn't duplicate it so they wouldn't fix it until I brought it in while it was raining and water pouring onto my center console. Needless to say they fixed that and replaced all the parts that got wet.

I would have brought a bucket to the dealer with me and asked where the nearest faucet is. Imitation rain. "See, it leaks!".

Well, they had claimed they ran a hose over it to imitate rain and couldn't get it to leak. Who knows though, maybe they just didn't want to actually do any work to figure it out until I made it obvious to them.

Sounds like normal ABS behavior.

Next time it rains, find a big empty parking lot and hit your brakes hard. Everyone should know what the ABS "pulsation" feels like. I've heard that some folks actually release the brake pedal under ABS braking because they think something is wrong.
