Its cool.I am waiting on a response from another dude. Its $160 shipped but already has the 2.9g upgraded brushless tail and the MIA landing geat and CF tail fin. It also has spare 14500k main motor and a spare 2.9g rear motor as well as dual spare ESCs and a bunch of other parts for it.
If he accepts it the offer then I will just get it.
I procrastinated too much and then got busy at work or I would have bought a mSR on ebay that went for $130 today. |

So my new heli is here and I am waiting for the batteries to charge. Gonna need a little larger area to start out hovering as this thing looks like a hand full! |

I popped my main grips apart so many times now the screws are a bit stripped and no one stocks the spare part! |

Ugh! I guess my motors are shot. I guess the heli has about 300-400 flights on it so they did last for quite a bit. It seems to be only flying about a minute before it cant get above head height and up untill then it just has no power eaither. Prolly needs batteries as well since they have each been used a couple hundred times. Now I feel stupid for ordering $20 in spare parts that are eaither worn or glued together cause the motors will run another $25 and batteries are $15 each. I can buy a whole new Ax CX with a couple batteries for around $70. |

Yup....been there, done that!!
I took the day off, and just got back from going out. Damn, I love the Protos!!!! Ended up getting 10 flights in between the 450, the Protos and the Trex 600. Beautiful weather for it!!!

Well the fact that nobody ever returns their mmessages that are selling used 4g3s I decided screw it.
I just bought and paid for a brand new mSR with 4 extra 130 mah batteries (in addition to the 2 it comes with), spare blades, spare tail with motor, spare flybar, spare blade grips, spare feathering shaft and the swash plate alignment tool.
I could have saved $20 had I of just bought the other one when you said to get the mSR but at least this one is brand spanking new. |

Rookie....these motors are not fitting so well. I even tried to grind down the bottom "cup" holder for the motors and they still don't fit.
Any way of knowing what size each one is? |

It was $180. I could have saved $5 had I known the heli comes with the swash plate tool.
Found a huge thread on rcgroups.com about the mSR and all the first people to do stuff with them. There is just a TON of info on there. The mSR is apparently the most durable bird out there, may even surpass the Quark. Its not till after 250+ flights that the motors wear out but the flybar wears out after 150 +/-. Its still flyable but it elongates its hole and gets sloppy. Found out the aluminum swash is a waste of time and that the aluminum blade grips are 50/50 if they will cause TBE or not.
The Cusker mod works and can allow for loops and barrel rolls but is best for allowing the heli to flu in 3-5 mph wind and still have controll. Thats amazing for a heli that weighs under an ounce.
So if you just grind the arches on the blades a hair so they can fold all the way back then you can just about eliminate hurting the helis head parts. There is even a vid on youtube of EatAtJoes putting his into a wall, he just hovers up to the wall and repeatedly pushes its nose into the wall and all it does is back up a couple inches from the blades pushing it back. The other problem is nocking the cap off the tail motor in a crash. If you put some heat shrink or tape on the end of the motor then the cap never comes off. The mSR becomes damn near indestructable with those two mods.
Imagine something as tuff as an Air Hog but the stability of your CX and the speed of a 250, thats the mSR. I cant believe I fought buying one with Rokkie, it truley is the best choice for something fun, durable and a real heli.
BTW, there is one dude (same guy that figured out the blade and swash plate mod) that has now installed a brushless motor on his. |

Any way of knowing what size each one is? | Judging from the ones that I still have installed in my HBKII's (didn't look until just now) I must have swapped out the 3800's for the 3900. So, my best guess is that they are BOTH 3800.
I don't have a camera handy to post picks of the frame of one of the HBKII's to show you the mod I did to make the 3800 fit when I had it in there, so I'll try to explain it as best as I can.....
I ground off the lip around the motor area from the mid point of the motor to the front to allow it to sit flush. I also chewed a bit of material from the back of the motor area, near the main gear where the 2 halves come together, to make room for the motor.
Between those two tweaks, the motor fit in there pretty good.
I had one of those motors in one of mine for a probably 40-50 flights. They fit, just need a bit of modding to do so!!!
I'll be able to get a pic or two late tomorrow if need be...

I got a confession....put about 10 packs through my helis on Sunday, and LOVED it...but I also put about 5 packs through a plank and fell in love with that too......I've got to go get me some planks that have more guts than the slow stick I got!!! Need something FAST!!
Damn...the Mustang doesn't have the room for hauling all these toys around. I was amazed I got what I had to the field, I took all the following:
1 TRex 450 in a Large Case
1 Protos 500
1 Compass Atom 500
1 Trex 600
1 GWS SlowStick (36" wingspan)
1 HPI 1/18" Scale Nitro Truck
Support tool box
2 gallons of Nitro Fuel.
I add another plane or two, and I'm going to be SOL with the Mustang!!! |

I really like my MSR. I am getting pretty good at flying it and its quite fun.
So far I have broken:
-main grips
-tail blade
-landing skids
No one stocks the landing skids so now my chopper is broke and I am waiting on parts |

KT, here are some things that will really help you save parts on that thing.
Where the blades mount trim the arch back so the blade can fold back and not hit the screw. That will save you from breaking the blade grips.
On the tail motor get some 1/4" heat shrink (be careful with the heat gun) and put it over the cap of the tail motor. You can also do the electrical tape fix and run a thin strip across the motors cap and holding the wires down. Then take another small piece and run it around the case on the end. That will keep the end cap from poping off and killing the motor. I am suprised you broke the rotor and not the motor.
For the landing gear you can get some clear spray on clear coat or verathane (sp?) and put three light coats on it and that helps it a ton. You can get the landing gear from the place I ordered my parts and heli from. I would suggest getting an extra fly bar as well cause they do wear out. If you order it from the same place then shipping is free. Just buy both parts and then request a total from the seller and it will be way cheaper then the LHS.
Also, check to make sure your swash is still aligned with the alignment tool cause with the impacts you are having I bet its popped off.

Later | Thanks man! Must be cuz both motors look the exact same. I saw at the back of the motor where it hits the frame upright and that I'd have to grind it. I just wanted to make sure first since that involves chopping upt he main frame!
I've got my eyes on a few basic 3 channel planes. I've seen a few micro models that are about 12-16" wingspan and seem to be pretty acrobatic if you know what you're doing, but also fly slow for beginners.
I'm looking at a Micro Cub....thinks its the Hobby Zone one. |

Not yet....tempting though! I want a plane, but might wait until spring for the plane since I can fly the MSR in my garage all winter.....or in my house. |
